๐Ÿ’šThis week is Mental Health Awareness Week, and weโ€™re proud to support the campaign

๐Ÿ’šMental health matters every single day. A conversation, a check-in, or simply showing kindness can make a bigger difference than we realise. This week is about raising awareness, reducing stigma, and reminding everyone that itโ€™s okay to ask for help.

๐Ÿ’šWe are selling green pin badges at reception this week with all money raised going to Mind

๐Ÿ“ข May Bank Holiday โ€“ Order Your Medication in Good Time ๐Ÿ’Š

With the upcoming May Bank Holiday, we would like to remind all patients to plan ahead and request their prescriptions in good time.

Every year, we see a high number of prescription requests placed over the bank holiday weekend, with patients expecting them to be ready for collection on Tuesday. Unfortunately, as the surgery is closed during the holiday period, we are unable to process these requests until we reopen.

โณ Please remember:
Prescriptions are ready 3 working days after they have been issued โ€” not from the date they are ordered.

โœ… To avoid delays or running out of medication:
โ€ข Check your medication in advance
โ€ข Order in good time to allow for processing time
โ€ข Take note of the bank holiday closure dates

๐Ÿ“… Please refer to the attached image for guidance on ordering and collection timelines.

Thank you for your understanding and helping us ensure everyone receives their medication safely and on time.

Important Patient Notice

We are currently experiencing electrical issues at the surgery which may affect our phones, computers, and some appointments today.

Our team is working to resolve the problem as quickly as possible. Please be patient with staff while services may be slower than usual.

We will post updates here as soon as we have more information.

Thank you for your understanding.

We are a training practice and as such occasionally have medical students working with us under the supervision of a GP Partner.

Between the 11th May and 4th June 2026, our Clinicians may have a Medical Student in your consultation. The Medical Students will be observing the clinicians in order to expedite their experience and to support them with their clinical skills. Whilst we appreciate your support with this, you have the right to choose to see the clinician without a medical student present in the consultation.

Should you wish to see the clinician without the medical student present, please inform reception on arrival for your appointment.

Please be aware that you may be offered an appointment with one of our medical students and will be informed of this on booking. Whilst we appreciate your support in consulting with our trainees in order to broaden their experience, you have the right to choose to see the clinician of your choice.

Thank you for your support โ€” together we can help raise awareness and support those who may be struggling.

This is a new opportunity for a get-together, and have a cuppa, a piece of cake or a biscuit, and benefit from the company and chat among a group of other local friendly people who are maybe feeling a bit lonely, and also looking to share their time with others.

This event is funded by Durham Community Actions' QUIT programme and so we are especially welcoming people who are thinking about giving up smoking and want some initial support and advice, and those who have already stopped smoking and are finding it a challenge - and are seeking the distraction and support in a welcoming environment.

But these afternoon coffee and chat meetings are not just for those who smoke, or have stopped smoking - they are open to everyone to attend.

Each session is an informal opportunity to just meet with others, and maybe make some new friends.

Our friendly team will be there to welcome you, and provide a listening ear.

Come along and find out more about what we can offer you.

Interested in volunteering? Come along and talk to our team. New volunteers are always welcome at any of our events - so please just ask and we'll get you registered with us as a volunteer.

We hold the Durham Volunteering Kitemark so you can be sure of a warm welcome.

Come along to these calm crafting sessions for some mindful relaxation and good company if you are looking to make new friends, and perhaps meet some old ones.

Andrea is an experienced group facilitator in arts, crafts, and creative therapies. She will guide you through a simple easy to do mini-project. Her style is relaxed and friendly with an emphasis on calming the mind and nervous system rather than achieving high quality results.

Everyone is welcome whether you think you're any good at art and crafts or not.

Each session will start with a very short mindful exercise to make sure that everyone is comfortable and relaxed.

All materials are provided and each session is fully funded and so free of charge, but donations are always welcome to support our ongoing work.

These sessions are perfect for anyone who has been thinking about giving up smoking, or anyone who has recently stopped smoking and would enjoy some support and company. Distraction and social contact is proven to help stopping smoking.

We're here to help.

Do you love to go walking, and enjoy taking photos, but don't really have anyone to pal up with and share your interest? Do you sometimes feel a bit lonely when you're out and about and wish you had some friends to go walking with?

Funded by the QUIT programme, these events are especially extending a welcome to anyone who has recently stopped smoking, and those who are considering stopping and would like some informal support.

The walks are open to everyone though, so bring a non-smoking friend - and come along if you are a non-smoker of course!

Dave from D.K.World-Photography is joining us for 3 mindful summer walks through Teesdale - bring your cameras and phones along to learn some top tips from Dave, enjoy a stroll with a group of like-minded people, and bring your landscape pictures to life.

Each walk will start from an agreed location at around 10am and last for approximately 2 hours depending on group pace and terrain. You must have a good enough level of fitness for these walks to manage your own physical comfort, and the ground may be wet and slippery...so please also wear good boots and come dressed for all that our lovely Teesdale climate can throw at us!

Bring water and you might want to bring some snacks too.

To book please contact Jenny at activities@teesdaledayclubs.org.uk or you can call the office - please leave a message if we're not there!

All location meeting times and places will be given to you on booking.

Please also note that you need to be able to get yourself to our locations, as we are not providing transport for these weekend walks - and locations may not be close to or on a bus route.
Lifts may be available once we have bookings arranged, so let us know if you'd like to go but really can't make your own way there, or if you're going and happy to offer a lift.

Booking is essential and groups will be kept to a reasonable size - so get your place booked now! activities@teesdaledayclubs.org.uk
