🌟 Help find Darlington’s next youth MP! 🌟

Darlington youth parliament and the youth cabinet work to make sure young people’s voices are heard by the people who make decisions in our town. They offer someone to talk to, raise issues that matter to young people, and support campaigns that can genuinely make a difference.

Voting in schools runs from 2–6 March 2026.

Please encourage the young people in your life to take part - it’s a simple but important way for them to speak up and get involved.

🌟 Meet Evie Russell – one of four candidates standing to become Darlington’s next youth MP 🌟
Evie is 15, attends Carmel College, and is committed to ensuring that every young person in our town feels included and supported. She’s particularly focused on wellbeing, the environment and creating more opportunities for young people locally.

Here are the themes Evie is passionate about:

🧠 Mental health & wellbeing
Evie wants to see more understanding staff in schools, safe places to talk, and calm spaces where young people can take a breather when they need to.

🌍 Environmental action
She’s keen on clearer recycling options, cutting down on waste and making sure young people are part of conversations about Darlington’s future.

🤝 Youth spaces clubs & community
Evie would like to see more affordable and accessible places for young people to go, from youth and sports clubs to creative spaces, and safe places to hang out with friends.

Evie says:
“Every young person deserves to feel included, supported and listened to. I want to represent every young voice and make Darlington an even better place for us all.”

🗳️ A reminder: voting takes place in schools from 2–6 March 2026. Encourage the young people you know to have their say and make their vote.

The youth cabinet is open to new members aged 11–18. If you know anyone who may be interested in joining, please help inspire them to email evie.burford@darlington.gov.uk
