Edward has worked as a Patient Administrator in our Finance Department for over 15 years! Along the way, we've had many laughs and he has been an absolute asset to Woodlands.

Huge congratulations are in order this morning, as Lyndon became the first quadruple upper-body amputee to finish an Ironman Triathlon!👏🏻

We are wishing Paralympian, Lyndon Longhorne the best of luck ahead of his challenge this weekend!

Lyndon is taking on the Ironman Triathlon, aiming to become the first quadruple amputee to complete it in under 24 hours.

Last week, we headed to Middleham to attend the handover of a custom-built racing wheelchair, donated by the fantastic Jessica Bethell Charitable Foundation💙.

Meet Lucy, one of our lovely Clinical Specialists within our Physiotherapy team🏃🏻‍♀️.

Originally from South Africa, Lucy studied at the University of Cape Town and qualified in 1984. She spent two years doing her junior rotations at Groote Schuur Hospital before coming to the UK to locum in the NHS and travel. She then returned to South Africa and worked in private practice treating inpatients and MSK outpatients. As well as this, Lucy also became the South African Cycling Team physiotherapist.

Lucy has also become passionate in helping people with pelvic issues and helping prevent issues post-natally by offering the 'Mummy MOT' assessment.

A project brought to life by the wonderful, Great North Air Ambulance Service, Hangar 63 is the charities newly opened coffee house. Each cappuccino sold will help to support their mission of funding their critical care teams and keep their aircraft flying to deliver the life-saving support they do, day in, day out🚁.

Our Sales and Marketing Manager, Mark and Consultant Relations Manager, Sharon headed down and had a lovely morning chatting to Vicky from GNAAS, as well as Pam Royle who cut the ribbon!

Meet Mike, another of our fantastic Senior Physiotherapists!🏃🏻‍♂️.

Mike graduated in 2000 with a BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy degree, has worked in the NHS for almost 10 years, and has just commemorated 10 years of continuous service at Woodlands Hospital.

During his career, he has developed special interest in hand therapy and orthopaedic rehabilitation. Mike has an interest in healthcare quality and health inequalities and has a diploma in Global Public Health.

Our Story

BMI Woodlands Hospital is part of the BMI Healthcare hospital network. It provides a range of inpatient, outpatient and day-case specialties, including orthopaedic, spinal, urology, ear nose and throat, gynaecology and general surgery . Diagnostic and specialist equipment on site includes modern wide bore MRI scanner, ultrasound, and x-ray. Led by executive director Debbie Dobbs, the hospital in Morton Park, Darlington, provides services for NHS patients, for insured patients and for patients who choose to pay for their own care.
