Think for Yourself

Think for Yourself Think for Yourself stands in the Gap as a listening ear, signpost and advocate to support people on their journey to better physical and mental health.

β€œThink of Yourself” aims to help with awareness and reduce the stigma attached to mental health and addiction issues by providing indoor [and outdoor] activity sessions with a listening ear and a supportive community.

A real life experience...

I first came to Think For Yourself (T4Y) out of hours service by accident. I saw the Edge Centre open and decided to go in. I was welcomed by the staff and immediately felt included in the group.

I was very quiet to begin with but over time I grew in confidence.

I thoroughly enjoyed the trip out to Chester le Street Park.

After a while, I approached Phil and asked if there was a possibility of unpaid work anywhere in The Edge Centre Darlington. We approached The Grocery Store in the same building and there was a volunteer opening. I have now worked there for the last 6 months and I feel a valued member of staff

T4Y is now a huge part of my weekly routine. It is a place where I can actively take part in activities and engage with likeminded people.

I would like to thank T4Y that I am not stuck in the house on my own any more and I have a part time volunteer job
