This message speaks across wisdom traditions 🤍

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, inner peace is something we protect — yet for many, especially women over 40, that can feel incredibly hard.

Caring for others, carrying responsibility, holding everything together… peace is often the first thing to slip.

In January, winter reminds us to turn inward, rest, and conserve what’s precious.

When we’re supported to do this, the mind softens and inner peace becomes our true wealth.

✨ What would it feel like to give yourself permission to be present — without guilt?

If you’re longing for a gentler, more nourishing way to move through this season, my work is always about helping women come back to themselves, in rhythm with nature 🤍

Grey skies, heavy air, low energy…
If your body feels sluggish, achy, or out of sync at this time of year, you’re not imagining it. When energy is low outside, we feel it inside too

Acupuncture helps gently reset your nervous system, improve circulation, and support your energy — especially during cold, damp weather.

This is your reminder: you don’t have to push through feeling “off.”

New Year is the ideal time to gain clarity, and look ahead with healthy intentions.

Mine is to be more active! I had a knee injury in the Autumn which scuppered my activity, so I am keen to get back to some yoga and jogging again.

What would you like for your health goal in 2026?

🌑 **Winter Solstice: Permission to Slow Right Down** 🌑

Today is the Winter Solstice – the shortest day and longest night of the year. In Chinese medicine, this is peak Yin time… which basically means your body would quite like you to stop doing all things for a moment.

If you’re feeling a bit more tired, a bit more inward, or wondering why your motivation has gone into hibernation – congratulations, you’re perfectly in tune with the season ❄️

Winter is when our Kidney energy takes centre stage, and it thrives on rest, warmth, and gentle care. So this season is a great excuse to:

* Go to bed earlier (yes, really🤣)
* Keep your feet, belly, ears and lower back cosy
* Enjoy warming foods and hot drinks
* Do less… and feel less guilty about it
* Say “not today” more often

The lovely thing about the solstice is that even though today holds the most darkness, it also marks a turning point. From here on, the light slowly starts to return 🌱

So maybe light a candle tonight. Take a deep breath.
Acknowledge that you’ve made it through another year.
And remember – resting is doing something.

Your body knows this rhythm, and acupuncture is all about working with it, not fighting it 🤍

✨ How are you feeling as winter settles in – cosy, tired, reflective, or all three? ✨

I'm really thrilled to be officially part of the training world 😆🌎 and working alongside a great company Enterprise Made Simple.

I was excited (and nervous) to start my first training cohort today in Teesside, delivering Level 2 Counselling Skills, but I loved it!

I will be doing this role alongside my coaching and Acupuncture clinic.
So here's to a new career adventure🛣

P.s. loving my new drink thanks for the recommendation Clear the Clutter North East

❄️TOP TIPS TO NOURISH YOUR KIDNEY QI❄️

Winter is the season of deep rest in Traditional Chinese Medicine — a time to slow down, conserve energy and nourish the kidneys, the root of our vitality, hormones, fertility and longevity.

When we align with the season, everything feels easier. Here are my favourite ways to support your Kidney Qi this winter:

🌑 1. Embrace Rest & Stillness
Winter invites us to pause. Try going to bed a little earlier, allowing your body to rebuild its reserves. Rest is not indulgent — it’s essential medicine.

🔥 2. Keep Your Lower Back, Ears & Feet Warm
In TCM, cold drains Kidney Yang. Keeping your lumbar area warm protects your core energy, while cosy feet and covered ears help maintain circulation and vitality. Think warm socks, ear-covering hats and a heat pack on your lower back.

🍲 3. Eat Warming, Nourishing & Kidney-Supportive Foods
Slow-cooked stews, bone broth, black beans, sesame, walnuts, ginger and cinnamon are excellent this time of year.
For deeper Kidney nourishment, include:
• Foods from the sea like seaweed, kelp, prawns or mussels
• Dark blue, black and purple foods such as black rice, kidney beans, black beans, blackberries, blueberries, aubergine and black sesame
These foods help rebuild your reserves and fortify Kidney Qi.

💧 4. Sip Warm Water or Herbal Teas
Cold drinks weaken Kidney Yang. Swap them for warm water or herbal teas like ginger, liquorice, chai or cinnamon to keep your inner fire steady.

🖤 5. Choose Gentle, Restorative Movement
Tai chi, qi gong, gentle yoga or easy walks help circulate Qi without depleting your reserves. Move as though tending a slow-burning flame.

🫁 6. Deep Belly Breathing
Slow, nourishing breaths calm the nervous system and gently replenish Kidney Qi.

✨ Remember: Winter isn’t a season to push — it’s a season to gather your strength. Nourish your Kidney Qi now, and you’ll meet spring with more vitality, clarity and resilience.

If you’d like personalised seasonal support, I’m here when you’re ready. 💛

Home now from a great little break in Malaga, and back to a lovely flow of clients in clinic.

Just what was needed before the busy run up to Christmas.

How do you create balance, rest and recharge during this busy time of year?

I love investing in my professional and personal development. It's an important part of helping me and my clients to grow.

I loved doing this course over the Summer, it was life changing.

I met some great people and have added more skills to help my clients be the best version of themselves.

What learning have you enjoyed recently?

🌫️ Point of the Week: ST40 – Clear the Fog & Lift Your Energy 🌫️

Autumn can bring a sense of heaviness — not just in the body, but also in the mind. ST40 (Fenglong) is the most powerful point for transforming phlegm and damp, helping clear internal “muddiness” that can show up as brain fog, sluggish digestion, chest or sinus congestion, or emotional heaviness.

✨ Benefits of ST40:

* Clears phlegm and damp from the body
* Supports digestion and metabolism
* Promotes mental clarity and emotional lightness

🍂 As we slow down with the cooler months, ST40 helps us find clarity, lightness, and balance ready to embrace autumn fully.

💡 Tip: This point is often used in combination with other points for digestion, mental clarity, or emotional calm.
