Sometimes less is more and and an operation isn’t always the answer

Well done to Diego for getting back to what he loves after a nasty knee injury. After a careful assessment we aimed for rehab without any operations, which has paid off well. Well done to him and to Phil bulmer physio for getting back on track

Ps if anyone needs an equine dentist then Diego is your man and the best in the business!

Double day case!

Well done to Robin who is off home to sit in his garden and enjoy the sunshine after his partial knee replacement this morning. Just as he did a few months ago for his other knee!

Well done to all the hard working ward and theatre staff for making this happen, and to everyone else at Tees Valley involved in his care. ☀️ ☀️☀️☀️

As we enter the summer holiday season it so lovely to hear from Marc, one of my patients, how he has got his life back again after his recent mako robot assisted hip replacement for the ongoing effects of a childhood hip condition:

“Hey Mr Webb,

Just wanted to send another message of gratitude.

Cindy and I are currently in Italy celebrating our wedding anniversary, and as we’ve been walking around Florence and Rome, I couldn’t help but reflect on how far things have come. Before the surgery, I couldn’t even manage a walk around the local supermarket - now I’m exploring historic cities and (unsurprisingly) eating a lot of great food .. and running for the odd bus!

None of this would’ve been possible without you, and I just wanted to say thank you again. It means a lot that you’ve gave me my life back 🙂”

Great to see the recognition that Tees Valley deserves from Ramsay UK, with some great articles about us mentioning

- a recent glowing orthopaedic inspection, highlighting that tees valley hospital has the shortest length of stay for hip and knee replacements in the group, and incredibly has the 4th shortest length of stay of any hospital in England and Wales

- our great day case hip and knee pathway where recently we had 3 patients go home on the same day, and a total of 5 that week

What an amazing efficient day-

A total of 9 patients undergoing hip and knee replacements today, helped by the hard working theatre and anaesthetic teams, as well as the ward and admin staff, and everyone else who provide such good care and great outcomes for our patients
