✨ WHAT HAPPENS DURING A REIKI SESSION? ✨

You’ve probably heard of Reiki…
Maybe you’ve felt drawn to it…
But part of you is still thinking, “What actually happens?”

Will it feel awkward?
Will I feel anything?
Do I have to believe in it for it to work?

The truth is… Reiki is one of the most gentle, calming and deeply personal healing experiences you can have.
There’s nothing you need to do, nothing you need to “get right”… you simply show up and allow your body to receive.

Let me walk you through it 👇

1. You arrive & settle in
We start with a calm chat, setting your intention. This is your time.

2. You relax (fully clothed)
You’ll lie down comfortably, wrapped in warmth and stillness.

3. The energy work begins
I gently place my hands on or just above your body, allowing energy to flow where it’s needed most.

4. You drop deeper
You may feel warmth, tingling, emotional release… or simply deep calm.
Every experience is different – and all are valid.

5. You leave lighter
Grounded. Clearer. More like yourself again.

This isn’t just relaxation…

Signs your body might be holding onto more stress than you realise.

Sometimes stress doesn’t look the way we expect it to. Sometimes it shows up quietly in the body.

You might notice things like -

- feeling constantly tired, even when you sleep
- tension in your neck, shoulders or jaw
- your mind is always racing
- feeling emotionally flat or disconnected
- struggling to fully relax
- feeling like you’re always on edge

These are often signs that your nervous system has been stuck in survival mode for a long time. When the body stays in that state, it forgets how to switch off.

This is why so many people say after a Reiki session that they feel -

You’re not stuck …. Your body just doesn’t feel safe yet.

After my last post about feeling ready for change but nothing shifting, a lot of people resonated with it. So lets talk about the part that people don’t say enough.

Sometimes the reason you feel stuck is because your nervous system still believes it has a job to do. Your body remembers things your mind has already moved on from.

Old stress
Old experiences
Old survival patterns

So even when you’re mentally ready to move forward, your body stays in protection mode. This can show up as -

Constant tension
Overthinking everything
Feeling emotionally numb
Struggling to relax
Feeling like you’re holding something but not knowing what

Why you feel ready for change… but nothing shifts

You’ve had the realisation.
You know something needs to change.
You feel like you’re ready.

But somehow… nothing actually moves.

Here’s why …

What happened - At some point your body learned that certain emotions, situations, or experiences weren’t safe to feel. So it adapted. It learned to protect you by holding tension, staying hyper-aware, overthinking, or shutting things down emotionally. Your nervous system wasn’t built for healing…It was built for survival. And it got very good at it.

What went wrong - Awareness alone doesn’t automatically change what your body has learned. You can understand your patterns, read the books, listen to the podcasts…
…but if your nervous system still feels unsafe, it will keep running the same protective responses. It’s not a lack of willpower. It’s your body trying to keep you safe the only way it knows how.

Anxiety isn’t random.

It’s not just in your head. It’s your body sending a clear message: it doesn’t feel safe. 🖤

Racing thoughts, tightness in your chest, trembling, or that restless energy — your nervous system is trying to protect you, even if the threat isn’t visible.

You’re not behind - February is a pause before movement.

In nature, nothing is in full bloom right now.
Trees aren’t forcing leaves.
Flowers aren’t rushing to open.
The earth isn’t failing because it isn’t producing.

Winter is not the season of creating —
it’s the season of conserving,
of restoring,
of gathering strength quietly underground.

And then spring doesn’t force growth.
It simply responds when the conditions are right.

Maybe you’re not stuck.

You don’t need to be ahead.

But here’s the honest bit no one really says out loud —
motivation doesn’t show up when you’re exhausted.

If you’ve been running on low energy, feeling foggy, flat, or overwhelmed, your body isn’t being lazy… it’s asking for support. When your nervous system is overloaded, motivation is one of the first things to disappear.

You don’t need more pressure.

February really can feel heavy — and you’re not imagining it.

It’s the in-between month. The excitement of January’s fresh start has faded, spring still feels far away, and winter has dragged on just long enough to wear the nervous system down. Short days, cold weather, less sunlight, disrupted routines… all of it adds up.

From a body point of view, we’re often running on low energy reserves. From an emotional point of view, there’s pressure to be motivated when the system actually needs rest, warmth and reassurance.

This is why February is a month where people feel:
• more tired than usual
• emotionally flat or low
• more sensitive or overwhelmed
• less patient with themselves

Nothing is wrong with you. Your body is asking for gentleness, not pushing.

Reiki gently supports your body back into safety, rest and regulation — without forcing, fixing or rushing.
