Baddha Utthita Parsvakonasana (Bound Extended Side Angle Pose)
We explored this pose (and some other bound poses) in our yoga classes last week. Some students were able to 'find the bind', connecting their hands behind the back and around the thigh, others used a strap to help connect the pose serving as an 'extension' for the arms while allowing the student to maintain the integrity of the pose, bridging the gap between the hands behind the back.
Some benefits of binding yoga poses include deepening the expression of the pose, opening up the body, improving alignment and building strength and focus.
