Dartington Bike Track

Dartington Bike Track The Bike Track at Dartington is an inclusive woodland bike
skills facility offering the perfect introduction to off-road cycling. Ride On!

Designed especially for families with beginner riders, up to those with advanced skills and riders using adaptive bikes. The Dartington Bike Track is run by volunteers at the Dartington Recreation Association. We manage 10 acreas of community space on behalf of the village including the fields, woodlands, playpark, pool and Meadowbrook Community Centre (home to New Lion Brewery and Pizzalogica). The Dartington Bike Track is open access for anyone on air-filled tyres, bikes, trikes, balance bikes and adapted bikes, and we want everyone in our community to enjoy it. Upkeep is important to maintain a safe and welcoming facility and costs will be around £1000 per year. We ask all our users to make a a contribution - suggested donation is from £5 per family per year. Please visit www.dartingtonra.com to find out more and make a donation.

⚠️TRACK CLOSURE⚠️
Unfortunately due to flood damage on 24th November the track is not ridable. There are large holes in some areas and some of the track surface has been washed away.
The DRA will assess it and organise repairs.
In the meantime it is closed until further notice.
Please take care in other areas of Meadowbrook that may have been affected by the heavy rains.

Can you support the DRA, who manage the Bike Track?

Get involved! The DRA is actively recruiting for new trustees and new volunteers to support in the running of our much-loved 10-acre facility in the heart of Dartington village…

Did you know that the area comprising Meadowbrook park and the community centre (rented by local businesses Things Happen Here and Pizzalogica), the swimming pool, the bike track, the woodlands, the Meadowbrook football field and car-park are all leased and managed (on a lease from Dartington Hall Trust that will run until 2117) by an independent charity, the Dartington Recreation Association [DRA]?

The DRA is carried by a group of unpaid trustees and volunteers, all resident in Dartington, Totnes or the local area, who love Meadowbrook and are proud to see it flourish as a space where our families, friends and the whole community is able to thrive…

Now, as some of the current trustees approach the end of their terms and prepare to step back for a bit, we’re looking to expand the pool by our next AGM in September and welcome in new faces from across the community who can help take things forward over the next few years and beyond.

Getting involved with the DRA at this stage, you’d be joining the charity while it’s in good financial health and at a time when alongside the management of the existing facilities there are exciting new projects afoot including a sustainable energy plan for the site, the development of a new swimming pool and the future replacement of the community centre building by a new one.

As a Trustee you’ll have a direct say in what we do as a charity, help decide how we spend our income, support the charity to have a healthy turnover of trustees, be giving back to the community, be supported by other trustees, and a paid administrator. Being a trustee involves committing to 4 trustee meetings per year for a period of 1-3 years and comes with options to join groups responsible for the community centre building, the pool improvement project and management of the charity.

For more information or to register your interest, please e-mail ashish@radicalecology.earth or call/text Ashish Ghadiali on 07477578475. We’ll also be holding informal information sessions at Things Happen Here at 6pm on Wednesday 17th July and 11 September. We’d love to see you there!

SWW have submitted plans for a solar farm in Littlehempston on the banks of the river Dart. They have a Statutory Duty (Water Industries Act 1991) to provide a right of access to an area of natural beauty as are the banks of the Dart. People have been campaigning for a walk/cycle/ride route along this stretch. The Steam Railway have agreed that we can used Bulliver Bridge to cross the Dart. If it is important to you please can you comment on the SWW planning application and express a desire to add a walk/cycle/ride route and have it included formally as part of SWW’s Solar Planning Application. The more people the better that comment from Totnes and all the surrounding areas 🙏. https://southhams.planning-register.co.uk/Planning/Display/2929/23/FUL
