Spending time in nature has to be my most favourite self-care practice.

I love the almost instant feeling of calmness sweeping over me.

I love that I’m surrounded by silence.

I love that sometimes I’m surrounded by birds, trees, a stream or even the sea and I just listen, and feel one with nature.

I love connecting with myself.

I love truly feeling like me.

I love feeling happy.

I love feeling grateful for everything in my life.

All fears and worries leave my body and soul.

All negative thoughts and feelings disappear.

It’s just me, the real me.

I look at self care as a want and a need.

I always want it and I also need it.

What’s that little time you spend taking care of yourself compared to the whole day anyway?

Nothing.

Let’s say you spend 1 hour by your self to recharge, relax and refocus.

You go for a walk, meditate, have a cup of tea, whatever you like.

Takes 1 hour but you become a better version of yourself for the remaining 23 hours of the day!

You become more patient, you have more energy, you are more pleasant and positive, just nice to be around.

It’s almost as if you do your self care practice for others 🙃

Now, I hear all the objections..’I don’t have time’, ‘I’m too busy’, ‘There is sooo much to do’

Yes, yes, I know!

But let’s say you still want to give it a go.

And let’s say you want to figure out HOW you can do it.

How can you spend some time on your own?

How can you make it happen?

I can assure you, if you want it, you will make it work.

Get creative.

Just keeping asking yourself ‘How can I?’ ‘How can I spend a few minutes on my own?’

The answer will come to you sooner than you think.

Does it require self-awareness? Yes, but that’s not the point.

The point is that you develop a strong desire for it.

You decide that you WANT to see the good in everything.

And when you want it, you will find it.

No exceptions.

This statement might be a bitter pill to swallow but hear me out.

Let’s look at two people who are going through the same experience e.g. divorce, losing a job or a serious illness.

One has a positive mindset and thinks everything is working out for them, they feel safe and trusting, and choose to see the good in everything.

The other has a rather negative attitude and thinks of themselves as a victim of life and circumstances, life happens to them and they have no control over anything.

Can you see the difference?

Same experience but completely different attitude and ways of thinking.

It’s not the experience that matters. What matters is your way of thinking and responding.

It’s your thinking that turns an experience into positive or negative.

Your thinking shapes your life.

You are in charge of your thoughts.

You are in charge of your life.

Start your day in a positive way and say ‘There is so much to appreciate in life.’

It is true.

There is SO much to appreciate.

But

If you don’t feel very appreciative this morning 🙃 and that’s perfectly fine ❤️ try saying ‘There is so much that could be appreciated in my life.’

You might not appreciate anything right now but you could.

You could if you wanted.

And if you do, just give in for a minute and notice how your mindset shifts.

Notice your feelings change.

Notice that you actually feel better.

Notice the possibility of a really good day. 💕
