Skin Cancer Awareness Month ☀️
This month is an important reminder to pay attention to our skin and never ignore changes that don’t seem quite right.
Recently, during a consultation, I noticed a small mark on the tip of my patient’s nose that concerned me. Although subtle, something about it didn’t look right, so I advised her to book an appointment with her GP.
Following assessment, she was diagnosed with a Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC) and has since had the area successfully removed.

As healthcare professionals, we don’t just focus on treatments and skin confidence; we also help identify changes that may need medical attention.
Skin Cancer Awareness Month is a reminder to:
✅ Check your skin regularly
✅ Monitor any new or changing marks
✅ Seek professional advice if something concerns you
✅ Wear SPF daily, all year round. Apply 20–30 minutes before going out, reapply every two hours, and seek shade between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Wear protective clothing, including a wide-brimmed hat and UV-blocking sunglasses
✅ Never ignore lesions that bleed, change, or do not heal
Early detection can make a huge difference 💚
