Morning everyone,

Following on from my post a few weeks ago about going into schools to talk about the potential consequences of one punch I thought you’d all like to know that my first talk is taking place at DACA this afternoon.

Obviously we are close to the summer holidays now so I will push to get into other local secondary schools in September and there’s talk of me potentially going into primary schools to talk to the year 6 classes as well.

Thanks to everyone who sent victim impact statements over. They will be being used today.

Wish me luck 🍀

After the last awful gang attack on a young lad here on Bridge Street (all school boys) I decided I needed to try and do something.

I emailed the Chief Constable and our local MP asking that we work together on what I call the One Punch Can Kill Campaign.

Not too surprisingly I’ve not heard back from the MP but the police have taken my request seriously and I will be attending schools with them to discuss the potential consequences of these ridiculous fights that keep occurring. It literally only takes one punch and that’s it! Life over! For multiple people.

As someone who has lost a family member to murder but also a funeral director I really feel I have a lot of information to give and if it helps just one person question whether they should have that fight or not then I will be really happy.

I wonder whether any of you that has been through something awful like an attack or suffered injuries as a result of one punch or fight would be willing to send me a victim impact statement so that I can read some of these out at school?

If you are willing please email:-

We are investigating the 35-year-old murder of a man who was attacked in his bed and have issued a fresh appeal for information.

A team of officers visited the Mansfield community to speak to potential witnesses recently as they continue to investigate the death of former miner Kevin Childerley.

Kevin, aged 30, and his wife Denise, 32, were asleep at their home in Sherwood Street, Mansfield Woodhouse, when they were brutally attacked during the early hours of Monday 19 February 1990.

Kevin died at the scene from the injuries inflicted but despite being seriously hurt Denise survived.

The attack happened while their two young children were also in the home asleep.

Following developments in the investigation a 62-year-old woman was arrested at the end of April on suspicion of perverting the course of justice in connection with the incident.

She was interviewed by detectives and bailed pending further investigations.

Detective Chief Inspector Ruby Burrow said: “This was a savage attack which took the life of a much-loved father and left his wife with lifelong injuries.

“Throughout our investigations we have been determined to get justice for both victims in this case, as well as for their two children and the grandchildren who never got to meet their grandad.

“Kevin was a much-loved family man described as a ‘joker’ with a great sense of humour by those who knew him.

“The attack tore apart the family and robbed Kevin’s children of a lifetime of memories.

“The case has never been closed and a dedicated team of detectives has been reinvestigating what happened that night using the latest investigative tools and technology.

“Following recent developments we have visited the neighbourhood to engage with a number of people we believe could help with our inquiries.

“It was a very positive exercise and I’d like to thank people for their cooperation.

“The arrest is also an important development and we have shared the news with Denise and other family members.

“We know the answer to Kevin’s murder lies within the community and we also believe allegiances and loyalties will have changed after the passing of more than three decades.

“I’d continue to encourage anyone with any information, no matter how small, to please continue to get in touch with our officers or anonymously through Crimestoppers.”

Where do I even start?!

Today we attended Hope Championships for the first time in the new partnerships.

Megan has had over a year off training and returned only 3 months ago and has joined a trio who performed so beautifully today and bagged themselves a gold medal! 🥇 So proud of you girls.

Then Logan and Emma went on to perform their balance and dynamic routines which were so beautifully executed taking gold but ALSO highest artistry score of the entire day!

These two haven’t been together that long, have overcome some hurdles and come out the other side absolutely shining like the superstars that they truly are.

I’m so proud of you both.

The 5am wake up call was definitely worth it.

Hi all,

Unfortunately I’m going to have to change the policy around Will Writing appointments due to constant no shows.

From here on a deposit is required to secure your booking and the balance payable at the end of the appointment.

I schedule time out of my day whether that be chapel visits, arrangement appointments, resin making or home visits to enable a Will Writing appointment to go ahead so to then have that person not turn up is really quite annoying.

I completely understand that things happen last minute but I would really appreciate it if I can be notified of this at your earliest convenience.

Thank you

Emma

A beautiful memorial piece made with ashes and dried funeral flowers.

Safe to say her mum loves it 🥰

I know you all love a gymnastics update…

Soooooo there’s been a lot happening with Logan at gymnastics recently.

After roughly 2.5 years together the time has come for Logan and Ella to go their separate ways and form new partnerships. Thankfully we will still see a lot of Ella tho and we will of course always be her biggest supporter as she does her thing as a top in a trio.

So here she is - Logan’s very talented (not to mention brave) new partner - Emma.

So excited to see these two blossom. They’re already absolutely amazing together after only a short period of time ❤️🥇❤️
