Happy Home Birth Day
************************
Here is my positive home birth story with Jacob, my 4th baby, my only home birth.
Monday 17th August 2020, I'd been having niggles all day, nothing major and due to all the braxton hicks I'd had previously, I didn't get too excited, so carried on my day as normal.
I woke up early Tuesday 18th August 2020 (1.20am) having discomforts, I tried to sleep through them, but I knew something was definitely happening, so decided to time the discomforts, they were pretty regular and every 5 minutes lasting just under a minute long, after an hour, I went for a wee and Chris rang the midwives.
We both came downstairs, Chris sorted the birth pool while I stood leaning over a dining chair, swaying and listening to music. Me and Chris cuddled for a bit before I decided to get into the pool at 2.45am. I had a cup of tea and ate some jelly babies while waiting for the midwives to arrive.
I was very much in my zone, it was quiet, calm and relaxing.
The midwives arrived just after 3am, they set up a little area for themselves in the next room, 3 of them came to see my birth!
I had fairy lights up and positive birth affirmations on the walls which I could see while I was in the pool.
At 4.30am, we heard Eden wake up, I asked Chris to bring her down which she was fascinated by, we had got the pool out a couple of time so Mommy in the pool wasn't a new site and she was happy to have new friends to play with!
Was it Eden being a part of my birth bubble or because little man was ready to meet his sister, but at 4.50am I told the midwives he was coming, I held Chriss hands and listened to my body, at 4.55am my waters released and at 4.58am, Jacob was born in my arms.
We had skin to skin in the pool and there was no rush with us at all, the midwives looked over at him, but didn't interfere with our golden hour. We had delayed cord clamping and Chris cut the cord.
I had the injection to release the placenta, I birthed this on land due to having my placenta encapsulated.
Chris and the midwives helped with the placenta, filling in the paperwork whilst I sat in a fluffy dressing gown with Jacob and Eden. My new little love.
