I'm in a book!!!
I wrote my birth story down on paper and now it's published inside this book...
The Calm Birth Method is the perfect book for pregnant people and their birth partners, full of positivity, love, care, inspiration and knowledge for pregnancy, birth and the fourth trimester.
The Holy grail of birthing, the perfect companion to hypnobirthing classes 😊
Thank you so much Liz Stanford for letting me be a part of this amazing book, I can't wait to read it, although I may need some kleenex for my birth story, yours and fellow hypnobirthing teachers too ❀️

My baby is 2!!! Our Jacob is my youngest of 4 and my only home birth, it was my favourite and best birth EVER!!!
MY 9lb 6oz baby was born at home, in the midst of a pandemic, a lockdown baby!
It was the quickest birth I had! Our surges started at 1.30am and he was in my arms at 4.58am! I'm gutted it wasnt longer as I felt it was over so soon... Jacob's birth was gorgeous and perfect for us.
Our environment was dark, fairy lights surrounding the room, birth affirmations and photos of my darling children on the walls. I had classic fm playing in the background as any song with words was throwing me off my zone!
I woke at 1.30am having lil twinges, enough to be woken up, I was so excited, I started timing them-5/6 minutes apart lasting 30-50 seconds!
Chris helped me down the stairs whilst ringing my wonderful midwife, I said "tell her not to rush, make sure she has time for food and a cuppa, I'll be ok for a bit!"
I made it to my birthing ambience, leaning on Chris, eating jelly babies and drinking tea-sounds interesting, but at 3am,it was amazing!
By 3.30am, I was relaxing in the pool, concentrating on my breathing and having a lil snooze between surges. I had 3 midwives in our home, silently working and asking Chris all the questions, whispering around me and all was calm.
At 4.15am, I was enjoying a cup of tea in the pool and I heard little feet from upstairs-Eden had woken! I asked Chris to bring her down, she hadn't seen people in ages and her baby was going to be born this morning, so Eden was now a part of my birth team (although she was much more interested in showing the midwives her toys!)
4.30am,I was panting, I had Helen (1 of my amazing midwives) and Chris reminding me of my breathing techniques-I knew I was in transition!
I started breathing downwards and listening to my body, I felt my body open and I asked Debbie (another amazing midwife) "was that baby's head?" she replied that it was my waters! My membranes are so strong, it felt like I'd crowned!
Lil man came pretty much straight after that, I breathed him out slowly and calmly into the water and into my hands. **continued in the comments**

Happy Home Birth Day
************************
Here is my positive home birth story with Jacob, my 4th baby, my only home birth.
Monday 17th August 2020, I'd been having niggles all day, nothing major and due to all the braxton hicks I'd had previously, I didn't get too excited, so carried on my day as normal.
I woke up early Tuesday 18th August 2020 (1.20am) having discomforts, I tried to sleep through them, but I knew something was definitely happening, so decided to time the discomforts, they were pretty regular and every 5 minutes lasting just under a minute long, after an hour, I went for a wee and Chris rang the midwives.
We both came downstairs, Chris sorted the birth pool while I stood leaning over a dining chair, swaying and listening to music. Me and Chris cuddled for a bit before I decided to get into the pool at 2.45am. I had a cup of tea and ate some jelly babies while waiting for the midwives to arrive.
I was very much in my zone, it was quiet, calm and relaxing.
The midwives arrived just after 3am, they set up a little area for themselves in the next room, 3 of them came to see my birth!
I had fairy lights up and positive birth affirmations on the walls which I could see while I was in the pool.
At 4.30am, we heard Eden wake up, I asked Chris to bring her down which she was fascinated by, we had got the pool out a couple of time so Mommy in the pool wasn't a new site and she was happy to have new friends to play with!
Was it Eden being a part of my birth bubble or because little man was ready to meet his sister, but at 4.50am I told the midwives he was coming, I held Chriss hands and listened to my body, at 4.55am my waters released and at 4.58am, Jacob was born in my arms.
We had skin to skin in the pool and there was no rush with us at all, the midwives looked over at him, but didn't interfere with our golden hour. We had delayed cord clamping and Chris cut the cord.
I had the injection to release the placenta, I birthed this on land due to having my placenta encapsulated.
Chris and the midwives helped with the placenta, filling in the paperwork whilst I sat in a fluffy dressing gown with Jacob and Eden. My new little love.

Did you know if you relax your jaw, your muscles used to deliver baby will also be relaxed?
Babies don't like tense muscles so the more relaxed your face and jaw are, the more likely your down below muscles will be too!
Remember to keep relaxed face and jaw during labour and birth, let me know if you notice a difference
(get your birth partner to remind you too!)

Skin to skin has some absolutely fabulous benefits for both baby and parent.

Having your baby's skin close to yours is magic and here are just some wonderful benefits:

πŸ’› Encourages feeding for baby and improves their digestive system
πŸ’› Regulates baby's body temperature, this is a biggy as they are unable to do this themselves- cold feet and hands sound familiar?
πŸ’› Helps to regulate heart and their breathing especially if they're upset
πŸ’› Feel good hormone production! Your love hormones will be coming in heaps! Amazing for milk supply, baby blues, PND, comfort and sleep
πŸ’› Enhances immune systems
πŸ’› Skin to skin can be practiced from the first moments after birth

To learn more about skin to skin and how we practice skin to skin during baby massage classes or how we promote it through hypnobirthing, comment below or drop me a message
