Redbacks™ Thermoplastic Elastomers
Redbacks™ can be made from an extensive range of thermoplastic elastomers (TPE) which are engineered to have a high degree of fire and flame retardancy - in combination with antistatic or electrical conductivity, anti-microbial properties, durability and flexibility at low and high temperatures. Redbacks™ Flame Retardant Thermoplastic Elastomers
Redbacks™ uses a range of halogen-free flame retardant thermoplastic elastomers designed to meet the most demanding applications where resistance to ignition and burning are important features. The range includes halogen, chlorine and antimony free grades that fulfills the specification of UL 94 V0 with 3mm wall thickness, which are low smoke and compliant with the Restriction of Hazardous Substances directives (Conforms to European directives 2011/65/EU (RoHS) and 2003/11/EC), offering flame retardancy without the use of polybrominated diphenyl ether. Under no circumstances should these materials be taken above 230°C as this may cause the flame retardant additive to react, which may result in the release of gases or deterioration in the flame retardant properties of the material. Redbacks™ Antimicrobial Thermosplastic Elastomers
Redbacks™ uses an antimicrobial TPE that can attack micro-organisms at source preventing the spread of harmful bacteria in hospitals, care homes, schools, public places, the food service industry, the home and garden. These antimicrobial TPEs have been independently tested and proven to kill >99.9% of gram positive and negative bacteria when tested by the recognised ISO 22196 test method. Antimicrobial TPEs are effective against MRSA, E-Coli, Pseudomonas Aeroginosa and Salmonella and many other harmful bacteria. Some bacteria can cause stains, odours, embrittlement and product deterioration, the use of antimicrobial TPE can help prevent these issues in Redbacks™ products making them safe and nontoxic for humans.
