I recently was asked to choose a symbol which represented me as a therapist...
I chose this.
Small Tiger or Large Cat, either way it's **fabulous**. I especially love the 80s-style blue eyeshadow and huge whiskers. I'm somebody who loves colour, so of course the brightness immediately caught my eye. And trust me, there were many different objects to choose from, from stones and pebbles to toy animals, trains, cars, dolls etc.
This represents me as a therapist because it's not afraid to be different. She isn't embarrassed about looking different to the others. She's herself. She's authentic. She's real. She's not going to work for everyone, but that's OK too.
I know how it is to feel different from everyone else; like you don't quite fit. I know how it is to be told "you're too much". I've been described as having a big personality. But I also know the joy that can be experienced when you don't shrink, or change to meet the expectations of other people. How much fun it can be to just BE.
I am an authentic, messy, chaotic and kind human. That's why I'm safe. You can be your authentic self with me, whatever it looks like.
If this inspires you to think about what symbol represents you, I'd love to know. 🐦
