Here at Claremont Manor, we’re proud to share the success of a meaningful partnership with Oakwood Court Specialist College, aimed at providing work experience opportunities for students with learning difficulties and disabilities.

So far, we’ve welcomed four students into our home, where they’ve gained hands-on experience across departments including maintenance, lifestyle, and in the kitchen. Their presence has brought fresh energy and a sense of purpose to our daily routines.

This was brilliant for creating community and More...Connection, offering valuable mentoring experience for our team, enjoyment and More...Socialising for the lovely people living with us.

We had a wonderful trip out to Dawlish on Thursday afternoon! The sun was shining so we made sure we had hats and sunglasses on!!

We enjoyed a relaxed stroll along the brook, under the trees in the shade. Residents loved watching the ducks, this made us all chuckle! Especially when we were swarmed by pigeons! We saw some extremely cute baby ducks, following their Mummy down the brook.

After a walk, we sat down and took in the local community, watching people go about their way, we also had a tasty ice cream to cool us down! What a perfect afternoon 🙂

On Tuesday morning, some of those living with us rustled up some delicious chocolate cake to celebrate World Chocolate day! We took turns to combine ingredients - following the recipe carefully, then enjoing the result during our 3 o'clock tea round!

On Tuesday afternoon we had fun playing skittles and Just Bowl during our More...Movement session. A fabulous social activity.

Our 1:1 trolley is up and running and filled with activities for our more room-based residents or individuals who prefer smaller group or personal activities.

Everyone enjoyed listening to Vikki's beautiful voice, and reminiscing through familiar songs. Our music sessions encourage More...Movement and More...Connection as people love singing and dancing along, the room was full with smiles and fun!

🎉 We’re Celebrating at Claremont Manor! 🎉

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that Claremont Manor has won TWO incredible awards at The MMCG Care Awards 2025! 🏆

🌟 Our amazing manager Carla has been named Home Manager of the Year – a true testament to her dedication, leadership, and compassion.
🌟 And our lovely Lottie has won Lifestyle of the Year, recognising her creativity and the joy she brings to the people living with us every day.

We couldn’t be prouder of these two outstanding women – they truly deserve this recognition!

A few words from Carla “I’m incredibly honoured to receive this award, but it truly reflects the amazing team we have at Claremont Manor. Every day, we work together to make a difference in our residents’ lives—and I couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve achieved.”

Lottie added “I’m so touched to receive this award—it means the world to know the little things we do each day brings so much joy to our residents. I feel lucky to be part of such a warm and supportive home.”

We looked around the local area, soaked up the sunshine and More...Fresh Air, and enjoyed some refreshments, everyone had a great time!

A fun visit from Marie at Animals 2U. We welcomed Bingo the flat tailed gerbil, Rocky the bearded dragon and Tortellini and Timothy the tortoises.

Those living with us were able to get up close and personal with the animals, learning lots of facts about them. Everyone had a lovely time.

What a week of Summer Solstice celebrations at Claremont Manor!

We kicked off with a vibrant arts and crafts session, creating sunset scenes and a stunning Stonehenge painting by one of the talented people living with us. Our work experience student joined us—bringing a lovely intergenerational touch and More...Connection.

Tuesday was full of music and joy with a sing-along from Music for Dementia, complete with instruments and dancing!

Gracie the therapy dog brought cuddles and smiles to everyone midweek, while the lovely people living with us made beautiful flower crowns from garden finds.

Thursday brought More...Relaxation with a sound bath led by Lynda - pure serenity. We also visited a local school for a heartwarming assembly on care in the community, continuing our intergenerational connections.

And on Friday, our Summer Solstice party was a blast! Music, dancing, a Stonehenge photo booth, mocktails, marshmallows by the fire pit - pure magic!

A week full of More...Creativity, More...Connection, and celebration!
