Looking for a fun, friendly way to get active this summer? Come along to the Exwick Walking Sports Festival!

✨ Over the weekend, our Community Engagement Officer Lisa had a wonderful time visiting the Exeter Craft Festival on Cathedral Green! ✨

She was so impressed by the incredible variety of stalls and the amazing local talent on display. 🎨🧶🪵

A special highlight was meeting the Exeter Wood Carvers, who gave her such a warm welcome. Their skill and creativity truly stood out — just look at the beautiful pieces they create!

If you’re interested in giving wood carving a go, they meet on Tuesday evenings from 7–9 pm at the Deepway Community Centre in Exminster (EX6 8AJ), and they’re always happy to welcome new members.

👏 Huge well done to all the talented makers and artists — you make our local community shine!

🎶✨ Don’t forget! Music with Friends is this Thursday! ✨🎶

Our next Music with Friends session with the wonderful music therapist Chloe Taylor is happening this Thursday 3rd July, 2:00 – 3:30pm at Kenton Victory Hall.

Why not make a lovely day of it? Before (or after!) the session, treat yourself to a delicious lunch or coffee and cake at Powderham Farm Shop & Bistro, just down the road.

🍰🥗 Fresh, local treats and a cosy atmosphere — the perfect way to make your afternoon even more special!

Lisa recently popped along to Music with Friends at Kenton Victory Hall – a relaxed, welcoming group led by local music therapist Chloe Taylor.

It was lovely to see Barbara and David join in.

These sessions are free, dementia-friendly, and full of gentle joy. Just music, memories, and good company – with a cuppa halfway through.

Yesterday, I popped into the Hub Store along The Strand in Dawlish and met the lovely Simon, Director of Dawlish Community Aid. He shared with me all the incredible work they’re doing to support our community — and I just had to share it with you all! 💛

Not only do they provide furniture, clothes, toys, sleeping bags and essentials to people in need, they also work alongside the Dawlish Community Larder to provide food support. 🥫🧸🛏️

And if you’re visiting Dawlish or know someone new to the area — the Hub Store is also a local and tourist information point, especially helpful since the Tourist Office closed. They even have a free play area, complimentary tea & coffee, and WiFi – a real community gem! ☕📚🧩

They rely on donations and support, so if you have anything to give — or want to contribute with a one-off or regular gift — please get in touch with them. Every little really does help. 🙏

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us at last week's Memory Lane Café at the Riverside Centre!
Last Tuesday’s session was led by Liberty, Linda, and our amazing volunteers while Lisa was off — and what a lovely morning it was!

We’re proud to provide a calm, welcoming space for people living with dementia and their loved ones to enjoy connection, creativity, and community.

🎶 Next session: Join us for live music from our regular singing group, along with tea & cake, gentle games, arts & crafts, and some fun quizzes.

🌼 Dementia Action Week @ Dawlish Library 🌼
We were proud to take part in the Dawlish Library Dementia Awareness Week display, sharing our knowledge, resources, and support for those living with dementia and their loved ones.

At Home Instead, dementia care is close to our hearts. Our Memory Lane Café, lovingly run by our amazing volunteers, offers a warm and welcoming space at the Riverside Centre in Dawlish every 2nd and last Tuesday of the month, 2–4PM. It's a place for tea, cake, conversation, and connection.

If you’re local, pop down to Dawlish Library to explore the display – there’s plenty of helpful information, a brilliant selection of books, and lots more to make use of in the library.

We’re always happy to support our community and raise awareness. Huge thanks to Dawlish Library and all involved for hosting such an informative and compassionate display 💜
