Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)

This is a form of seasonal depression linked to winter months when we get much less sunlight, experiencing shorter, darker and colder days.

Common symptoms:

Today, October 10th, is World Mental Health Day and the theme is 'access to services - mental health in catastrophes and emergencies'. In my stories I've shared some ways we can help to manage anxiety and feelings of overwhelm when we hear the news around global events. So it finally happened…. after Jen and Lee were convinced the baby would arrive early, he made an appearance 7 days late on Saturday 16th August at 11:37am and weighed 9 pounds! He has been named Alfie and is very loved already 💙

His arrival was a bit stressful and Jen needed to have a C-section which went really well. She is now home recovering.

Alfie is settling into his life at home and enjoys keeping Lee and Jen up at all sorts of hours.

Lily was brought home to meet him yesterday and their first meeting went really well. She is already taking on the role of protective older sister wanting to know what all the noise was at 00:30 this morning 😂

Not being able to switch off from work 🙄 Lee has already treated Alfie for some tight muscles and joints in the neck (highly likely due to his early hour tantrums 😂) and a pelvis adjustment. Jen has been getting soft tissue therapy when needed and Lee is already getting her core rehab plan underway for her to start after her 6 week recovery period.

All of Lee’s patients over the next 2 weeks have been contacted and rescheduled while he is on his paternity leave. However, due to Jen needing a C-section this leave might need to be extended or there may need to be a phased return to work. We will keep all patients updated as we move forwards.

We have a new Counsellor here at Coastal Chiropractic and Wellness Centre.

Paige is a qualified integrative counsellor, offering one to one in person sessions for anyone over the age of 18. She is a friendly and bubbly person who loves to sit and listen!

Paige holds a bachelor’s degree (hons) in Social and Therapeutic Interventions and has undergone four years of training. Being a trained integrative counsellor means she is able to use a blend of modalities and techniques to tailor the sessions for each individual client.

Areas she can help with:
- Depression and anxiety
- Grief and loss
- Self harm and suicidal thoughts
- Stress and feeling overwhelmed
- Low confidence and self esteem
- Relationships
