We had a joyful afternoon at St Winifreds Care Home when Minister Pat visited with a local choir, filling our Home with Christmas carols and festive cheer. Residents loved singing along and enjoying the blessing and reading — a perfect start to the season. 🎶✨

In our Winifreds Pantry Baking Club, residents also had great fun making cupcakes to share at tea time. Lots of mixing, decorating and chatting made for a lovely morning together. 🧁💛

We recently had a lovely festive morning at St Winifreds Care Home getting stuck into some Christmas crafting! Our residents created colourful candles and wreaths, filling the tables with sparkle and cheer. We can’t wait to display their beautiful creations around our Home for Christmas. And of course, we finished with some well-earned refreshments! 🎄✨

We loved taking part in the Cake4Kindness campaign on Thursday 20 November here at St Winifreds Care Home. Our residents and team baked a delicious selection of homemade cakes to donate to United Families UK, supporting local families through their community pantry. It was a lovely way to share kindness, connection and a few smiles! A big thank you to Tracy, Nisha, Sheeja, Ant and our new Chef Sue for their wonderful efforts. 🍰💛

This week at St Winifreds Care Home, we’ve begun our Christmas crafting — it always seems to creep up on us! Our residents have been busy planning what festive creations they’d like to make, and our tables have been full of colour and sparkle ✨🎄. With colouring, painting, glitter, glue, snowflakes and stars, there’s been plenty of festive cheer as everyone gets creative together. We do love our craft sessions here — and of course, a few refreshments along the way make it even more enjoyable! 🔔🖍️

We had a truly special Remembrance Sunday here at St Winifreds Care Home. Throughout the week, our residents took part in thoughtful craft sessions to create beautiful wreaths — colouring and painting poppies, adding glitter, and decorating our dining area together. These moments were filled with conversation and reminiscence as we shared memories ❤️🎨. On Sunday morning, we gathered to watch the televised Remembrance service with refreshments, taking time to remember and honour those who served. In the afternoon, we enjoyed a relaxing music session with John Williamson, which was the perfect way to end a day of reflection and togetherness. 🥰

🎃 Pumpkin carving fun 🎃

At St Winifreds Care Home, our residents enjoyed a wonderfully creative pumpkin carving session to celebrate Halloween. Everyone got involved in scooping out the seeds — a messy task but still great fun! Once the pumpkins were clean, residents chose different faces to carve, with some aiming for spooky expressions and others going for cheerful designs. There was plenty of laughter as everyone agreed their pumpkins weren’t quite scary enough! 🕸️ With refreshments on hand and plenty of chat around the tables, it was a fantastic afternoon. ☺️

👻 Halloween afternoon tea ☕️

To continue the celebrations, we hosted a special Halloween-themed afternoon tea for our residents and their families. Our talented Chef James went all out, baking a delicious selection of spooky treats including cupcakes that came with syringes filled with 'blood' (tasty blueberry compote!) to inject into the sponge. Everyone thought it was a brilliant idea, and the cakes were enjoyed alongside cups of tea and coffee. It was a perfect way to celebrate our Halloween festivities. 🧁🧡

Last week at St Winifreds Care Home, our residents rolled up their sleeves for another delightful Winifred’s Pantry session — this time making delicious homemade shortbread 🧑‍🍳. Each of our residents had their own mixture to combine, roll and shape into tempting biscuits, before using forks to add decorative patterns to the tops, ready for baking. It was a wonderful afternoon of creativity with scrumptious results! 😋

Last week we celebrated our lovely resident Clare’s birthday here at St Winifreds Care Home. When asked how she’d like to spend her special day, she chose to enjoy a fun game of bingo — and our St Andrews residents were invited to join in too. It was wonderful to see everyone laughing and chatting together as they marked their cards, with team members and family joining in the festivities to make the day truly memorable. Many happy returns, Clare! 💐🥳

We also wished our wonderful team member and mum-to-be, Siobhan, all the best as she begins her maternity leave shortly. Our team gathered to celebrate with her, sharing thoughtful gifts and warm wishes. Good luck, Siobhan — we can’t wait to meet baby Violet soon! 💜👶

On Friday 17 October, we hosted our Wear It Pink Day in support of breast cancer awareness at St Winifreds Care Home. Our team members and residents joined in the fun by wearing pink and enjoying a lovely afternoon tea together, complete with games and plenty of sweet treats 🩷. A huge thank you to our talented Chef James for baking a batch of cheeky 'boobie cupcakes' — they certainly raised smiles all around and made the day extra memorable! 🧁💝

To mark National Animal Day we enjoyed a fun-filled afternoon of animal-themed bingo at St Winifreds Care Home on Friday ✏️. Our residents had great fun spotting all the different animal pictures on their cards and calling out “Bingo!” when they won 😃. There were some great prizes up for grabs, including jewellery, body washes, wallets, and watches for the gents — all enjoyed alongside a comforting cup of tea and biscuits. It was a lovely way to spend a sociable afternoon together. 🙌

On Sunday 5 October we continued the celebrations with a wonderful tea party in honour of Grandparents Day 👵. Residents, families, and some delightful grandchildren joined us for tea and cupcakes, creating a warm and joyful atmosphere 🧁. Everyone agreed it was the perfect way to celebrate — sharing sweet treats, special moments, and plenty of love. A big thank you to everyone who joined us for such a memorable afternoon! 🙏🩷

On Tuesday 30 September, we held our Winifreds Pantry Baking Club, where our ladies Clare, Esme, Cath, and Joan, along with our two lovely gents, Kevin and Derrick, joined in for a very special baking session. With the wonderful support of Ben and Julie from our Catering Team, we set about making six rich and fruity Christmas cakes ready for our festive celebrations here at St Winifreds Care Home. 🎄 Each of our residents took on a different task – from creaming the butter and sugar, to cracking and beating the eggs, to chopping and preparing the cherries. Our team member Heather then had the joy of combining all the ingredients into the final mixes, filling the room with the delicious aroma of Christmas baking. 🍒 Ben kindly then baked the cakes for us and Julie helped us clean and tidy up after the session. Everyone who took part thoroughly enjoyed themselves and said it was lovely to do something that they'd always done at home.A huge thank you to all our enthusiastic bakers – now we can’t wait for the festive season to arrive so we can all enjoy a slice (or two!) together. 😃
