A small group of our residents at St Winifreds Care Home recently enjoyed a wonderful outing to the Hurricane and Spitfire Museum, where history truly came to life. Our ladies and gents were excited to explore the displays, which were filled with fascinating wartime artefacts that sparked plenty of conversation and curiosity πŸ˜ƒ. After exploring the exhibits, we took a well-deserved break in the museum cafΓ©, where our residents enjoyed hot drinks and toasted tea cakes with jam – a treat that was savoured by all β˜•οΈπŸ˜‹. On our way out, we noticed how some of the old bomb shells had been cleverly transformed into donation boxes! πŸŽ—οΈ

Last week, our St Winifreds Care Home residents got busy preparing for our upcoming Hawaiian-themed BBQ πŸ— with a vibrant art session. It was a wonderful way to spend time together colouring, sticking, and painting tropical-inspired creations 🌺🦩. The bright colours of our chosen Hawaiian theme gave us plenty of inspiration, and of course, no afternoon would be complete without a lovely cup of tea πŸ«– to keep us refreshed!

Sadly our scheduled entertainer was unable to visit last week, but in true St Winifreds style we didn’t let it dampen our spirits! As our ladies and gents gathered in their seats in our dining room, we quickly came together to create a fun alternative πŸ™Œ. With the help of Alexa, we started playing song requests from our residents – and soon the room was filled with music, singing, dancing, and plenty of laughter and clapping πŸ‘πŸŽΆ! Several of our wonderful team members joined in, making the atmosphere even more joyful. The impromptu entertainment lifted everyone’s mood and turned an unexpected situation into a truly lovely experience. Our residents were incredibly thankful to the team for stepping in and bringing smiles all around. One of our visitors even took the time to thank us personally for our effort and positivity. πŸ˜ƒ

At St Winifreds Care Home, our residents were eager to get involved in Nellsar's Crafty Creature Competition and thoroughly enjoyed every moment of bringing their creature to life using repurposed and recycled materials β™»οΈπŸŽ¨. Our entry: Fred the Dragon. Fred was constructed using a recycled biscuit box and egg cartons, all hand-painted by our residents. His glasses were made from plastic cups, and his hearing aid from an old fob watch! Our residents loved painting, sticking, and assembling him and love our finished piece β€” we may even take Fred out on some future adventures! Our entry was one of the runners up in the competition and was commended for its touching story of finding happiness and acceptance. A huge thank you and well done to everyone who took part in creating our fantastic Fred! πŸ‰ πŸ™Œ

Here at St Winifreds Care Home, a rainy morning quickly turned into a sunny surpriseβ€”so we made the most of it! As soon as the sunshine returned, our residents excitedly boarded our minibus for a spontaneous outing to the beautiful St Margaret’s Bay. Once there, we enjoyed a relaxing tea and coffee while soaking in the stunning sea views. We also visited the commemorative wartime Patrol Monument. It was a fantastic morning filled with fresh air and we'd like to say a big thank you to Roy for driving us, and to Siobhan and Chelsea for their wonderful support throughout the trip. We’re already looking forward to our next adventure! πŸŒŠπŸ’™

We recently enjoyed a scenic outing from St Winifreds Care Home to the iconic White Cliffs of Dover with three of our wonderful residents. We set off in glorious sunshine β˜€οΈ but as we approached Dover Castle, we watched as it gradually disappeared beneath a thick blanket of fog. Undeterred, we made our way to a lovely cafΓ© perched on top of the cliffs, hoping the mist would lift 🌫️. While enjoying some refreshments, Walter sparked a heartwarming conversation about memories of the cliffs. Our group shared stories of past visits, including sunny walks and peaceful moments spent overlooking the sea.As the fog began to lift, we stepped outside and were treated to a view of the cross-channel ferries setting off from Dover. We even caught a glimpse of the French coastline across the English Channel! πŸ‡«πŸ‡· πŸ‘€

What a great Friday afternoon we had at our St Winifreds Care Home Baking Club, when our Chef James showed us how to do his amazing and much-loved peanut butter cookies πŸͺ. Such a treat! We mixed the cookie dough and rolled them into balls. It was particularly great to see our gents showing off their culinary skills. πŸ§‘β€πŸ³ Of course, when the cookies were baked, we got to have them at teatime and they were delicious. Our lovely couple Ruby and Terry enjoyed a glass of wine together 🍷 – what a welcome way to spend the afternoon! πŸ˜ƒ

It's always a great way to start the morning – welcoming talented Barry Goss to St Winifreds Care Home to entertain us with his wonderful music. 🎸🎢 He performed Country hits, rock 'n roll classics and some much-loved 6️⃣0️⃣s songs to get us moving and shaking! We got out our musical instruments and Barry loved us being his backing singers as we joined in with his tunes. We danced in our chairs and some of our residents took to the dance floor too. πŸ’ƒ

We enjoyed a great morning recently with talented musician Rob T here at St Winifreds Care Home. He certainly got us all dancing with his upbeat classics including 'Jailhouse Rock' and 'Is This The Way to Amarillo'. Our ladies and gents love to sing along and dance - live music provides such an uplifting experience which brings everyone together. 🎀🎢

And after a little holiday, our friendly Therapy Dog Bess came back to see us – and oh how we've missed her lovely little face and wagging tail! It certainly looked like she had missed us too! Bess loved seeing all her favourite people, whether in our lounges or residents' bedrooms, nobody was missed out. She brought so much joy to our Home with her wonderful personality and sweet nature. πŸ•β€πŸ¦ΊπŸ’œ

On Wednesday 9 July our resident Janice enjoyed going out in our minibus with Julie and Royston. They had a lovely drive through Folkstone and Ashford, and arrived at McDonalds for lunch. Janice said she felt hungry, so they ordered a cheeseburger and fries, plus chicken nuggets. She must have been hungry as she ate everything and enjoyed every mouthful! πŸ˜‹πŸ”

What a wonderful trip out we enjoyed with our St Winifreds Care Home residents on Friday 4 July, to the beautiful Fifth Trust Vineyard, in the Elham Valley, near Canterbury πŸ‡πŸ·. We enjoyed the drive into the countryside and admired all the wonderful scenery. Our driver Royston kindly took us a different route there and back to make the most of the beautiful weather and surrounding areas. When we arrived, we were made welcome and enjoyed a delicious cream tea, relaxing and socialising together with the stunning vineyard as our backdrop. πŸ«–πŸ™Œ
