Tired? There can be many reasons as to why you are tired. Perhaps you’ve overextended your inner resources… such as Centaury (cannot say ‘no’), or Oak (commitment to duty and responsibility), or Vervain (burning sense of injustice), or Clematis (too much daydreaming), or Wild Rose (utter inertia and indifference), or Mimulus (exhausted by known fears)… While we typically think of Olive for tiredness, this is the Bach flower for when energy has been expended. Such as after enduring a long period of illness or study, or striving to meet too many work targets, or juggling too much for too long — which can leave you feeling completely depleted in mind, body and spirit.
But then there is the Hornbeam tiredness. Often known as the “Monday morning feeling” which unfortunately is not restricted to that one day of the week…
A Hornbeam state is when it is the very thought of doing something which leaves you feeling tired. Which can lead to behaviour such as procrastination, displacement activity or complete avoidance — easier to veg out in front of the TV or keep scrolling social media than actually do what needs doing. It’s always interesting to note how we can spend more time avoiding doing something than it would actually take to complete the task!
It’s worth thinking too about what is it about the task which makes you feel tired. Is it a mundane routine, lack of stimulus, unenjoyable? What practical strategies could you put in place to take a different approach? Or is the task something that leaves you doubting your own ability? (Larch might be of help here too). Or is it a messy task that leaves you feeling yucky and disliking yourself? (Crab Apple).
Hornbeam will help you break through the tiredness, and restore your spontaneity and vitality so you can make the most of every day.
What are your experiences of Hornbeam? 🌺
