Finding Positivity in a Troubled World
Saturday 4th November 10am - 5pm

We are delighted to welcome Gen Kelsang Lekma to teach at Vajrapani Centre. She is the Resident Teacher at Southampton and is a senior Buddhist nun with more than 30 years of experience in teaching and meditation.

When we look at our current world situation and see so much pain and problems, we can often feel helpless, overwhelmed and discouraged.

Through Buddha’s wisdom, we can begin to understand how our mind creates our reality and all our experiences. Understanding this if we train to view things in a positive way, we can learn and transform all difficulties into a rewarding and beneficial experience.

In this special day course we will learn how to turn negativity into a powerful force for empowering our mind. Instead of feeling stuck and helpless, we can use the challenges of modern life to develop positive states of mind such as compassion, wisdom and love. This not only makes us emotionally strong and joyful, but also enables us to bring happiness to those around us.

SATURDAY HALF-DAY COURSE

"Training in the Peace of Concentration"
Saturday 28th October 10am - 1.15pm

In busy modern life, we experience endless distractions and our mind feels constantly scattered and exhausted. As a result we have little opportunity to enjoy the peace and power of a concentrated mind.

If we train in the practice of meditation, focusing on positive minds such as patience and love, our mind will become calm and peaceful. If our mind is peaceful we will be free from worries and mental discomfort, and so we will experience true happiness. But if our mind is not peaceful, we will find it very difficult to be happy, even if we are living in the best conditions. From concentration comes peace, by training in the concentration of positive minds, our mind will gradually become more and more peaceful and we will experience a purer and purer form of happiness.

In this course we will understand the benefits and importance of training in concentration and how we can begin to do so in daily life.

There is an optional second part to this course, following from the course we will train in concentration for 6 weeks at home which will prepare us for our Away retreat at Madhyamaka Centre, in Pocklington, on the concentration of tranquil abiding.
