After hearing the sad news that Denton Labour Club will be closing at the end of the month my heart goes out to the committee and all the staff who have worked tirelessly to keep the club running since Covid restrictions hit the hospitality sector hard. I truly hope that those finding themselves in an unexpected job loss, especially in the run up to Christmas, manage to secure jobs if they haven’t already.

For those people out there that are questioning how this affects my and Gail’s groups please rest assured that we are still open. You may have seen that my Tuesday group moved venue in July and Gail is working hard to relocate her Friday group, she will update her page once she has definitive plans.

I want to introduce you to my amazing members...

First we have Gillian and Carol both from the Newton group. This Monday they got their hands on their 4 stone weight loss awards and I couldn't be prouder of them for their commitment to the Slimming World plan and to themselves. Over recent months they have both committed to increasing their physical activity this has helped boost their losses and jump from a 3.5 stone weight loss to 4 stone gone in just 3 weeks.

This was then followed up with a cracking evening of weight loss awards being given to 5 of my gorgeous members from my Denton group on Tuesday evening. The gorgeous Aimee got her half stone award in her first weigh-in and is absolutely buzzing. Olivia has achieved 5 stone weight loss in just 38 weeks and is determined to achieve her target by Christmas.

All these fabulous losses have been achieved by following our Food Optimising and Body Magic support plans... no going hungry whilst developing healthy relationships with food and learning strategies to navigate through life's curve balls.

A diabetic woman has gone from a size 22 to a size 14 after losing nearly three stone.

Margaret O’Connell has transformed her health so much that her Type 2 diabetes is now in remission and she has championed the support she has received from Slimming World.

It was when Margaret, from Hadfield, realised her weight was stopping her from living the life she wanted to that she knew she had to make a big change.

I've been out spreading the love for our amazing group today across the Acre Street area of Denton. If you're one of the houses to have received one of the 60 magazines that I have randomly put through your door please don't throw it away if now is not your time to join us.

Instead pass it to a neighbour, friend, family member or see if your hairdresser/beauty salon would like it for their waiting area.

We welcome new and rejoining members every week and we want to share our support to anyone on a weight loss journey, even if youve had weightloss surgery or are using weight loss medication we can give you the very best support and compassion.

Happy Friday everyone, I'm off to soak my poor aching feet ready for another round of leafletting tomorrow ♥️

So my plans to hand deliver leaflets across Denton today has been scuppered by my trusty steed deciding it wants a well earned rest, resulting in an AA call out! In true 'prove Sam wrong' style the engine started when the AA tech put my key in the ignition. I was given strict instructions to take the car to the place where it will be repaired, (they will not attend a second call out for the same fault) I returned home. And to prove the AA right it now won't start again so I'm house bound, there is no physical way I can cart 1000+ leaflets on the bus.

Instead I'm asking the power of Facebook to help me in my quest to reach out to the good folk of Denton (M34) to let them know we always welcome new and rejoining members to our amazing group... please share this post and virtual leaflet on your page.

We offer caring support and sympathetic to anyone struggling to lose weight, including those who have had weightloss surgery or using weightloss medication.

Did you know we also work with the Royal College of Midwives to support pregnant and breastfeeding women?

We also work alongside Diabetes UK to help reverse pre-diabetic symptoms and Type 2 diabetes and help to reduce medication dosage of members with Type 1 diabetes.

No judgement, humiliation or shame in our group, only a warm welcome home to finding the new you, boosting your confidence and self-esteem.

If you believe it, you can achieve it... we believe you can achieve your dream weight and maintain it for life.
