Everyone has different reasons for why they exercise.

I like it for:

Feeling fitter and stronger
Giving me a mental release

And most importantly

Because my girls like to watch me and then try it themselves. They will never know how much they boost me to do things.

That time of year for the Colour Run again. This time Georgie ran the whole mile and could have carried on. Maddie was too young to run with us but danced in the warm up and drenched me with yellow paint instead.

Love exercising with my girls!

Ahh Sunshine!!

We have been having some great weather these past few weeks and I am sure we have all been enjoying it.

But

Better weather always increases one thing in clinics....

"Is there any reason you can think of that your back has flared up?"

"Hmmmm not sure, I have been spending a lot of time in the garden over the weekend."

And that's it folks, not lifting correctly, bending too much, not taking enough breaks. Gardening will cause you problems.

Take your time with it.

Feel Better. Move Better. Be Better.

As most of my patients know already, not only do I try and understand the impact exercise has on the body physically, I am also keen to understand how it can help our Mental Health as well.

Everyone has heard of the recommended daily steps is 10,000. For some that works and some that might be a big goal to achieve from the start.

So I am saying, build up to it if you need to. Start at 4,000, 6,000 and when that number becomes easier go towards 10,000.

Walking has many perks and with the weather becoming a lot nicer and having longer days. Why not try an incorporate a few more steps to help yourself?

Feel Better. Move Better. Be Better.

Now lets just start this by saying I am not encouraging everyone to strength train to be the next Gladiator (although I think my daughter would find that amazing)

Strength training is based on the individual.

It has so many benefits as you can see from the pic.

You start by lifting small, get the technique right and feel the satisfaction of seeing the progress week on week.

I always focus more on this in the off season of hockey. Its a great change from my usual "go to" training sessions.

Gosh we can be hard on ourselves sometimes.

The week doesn't always go as planned and sometimes commitments change.

We have to be kind to ourselves.

Look for the positives. Any movement is good movement.

Sometimes we have to adapt in what we do but you can still find an achievement in that.

Feeling like you need an MOT. Get in touch.

And that is me signed off for a week!

A few days to spend with the family over Easter and then back in clinics from Tuesday 22nd April.

May is looking pretty busy already so do get in touch sooner rather than later if something is bothering you.

As ever, I will try my hardest to get you in.

Happy Chocolate Egg Day!

Sports Massage is ultimately the type of massage I do but I prefer to call it "A Functional Massage"

It can be quite misleading to think that you need to be "sporty" to benefit from a Sports Massage... Well the answer is No.

Take a look below, anyone would welcome those benefits in everyday life.

Our Story

Jenny Flowers Sports Therapy was set up in 2011 immediately after graduating from University with a First Class Honours.

Our main aim is to provide Sports Therapy, Sports Massage and Sports Rehabilitation across the East Midlands to any individual that could benefit. Injuries don’t just happen during sporting activity, it can happen whilst doing the gardening, housework and general day to day jobs.

Jenny Flowers Sports Therapy has 8 years experience working with a wide range of patients complaining of many different injuries and postural issues. Whether it be in a clinical setting, corporate offices or on the side of a sports pitch.

This page will provide information on many topics that have come up during my career so far.
