Today at Bluebell Park we started our morning by arranging some beautiful flowers to display around the home.

Residents enjoyed naming some of their favourites and learning some new names and facts about fragrant shrub foliage.

This afternoon on our Memory Lane community, residents came together to look through the Boots reminiscing box.

Smelling the Wright's traditional soap brought back familiar scents to the residents who then began discussing with one another about their favourite things to buy.

The ladies make up and hair accessories were the talking point and many of our ladies commented on who they would let do their hair and how they liked their make up.

Its been a lovely day enjoyed by everyone who has taken part, to find out more about life at Bluebell Park Care Home - Barchester Healthcare please visit www.barchester.com

Today has been a busy day for our residents. Each month, we hold a baking club where we pick something yummy to bake, this week our residents deciding on some shortbread biscuits. We used some festive biscuit cutters to make some tree and star shapes to get us into the festive spirit.

On our memory lane community, our residents enjoyed a fun game of skittles. Lots of us joined in and cheered each other on as they played.

Today we ventured out on our homes minibus to Derby town centre, to visit the Museum of Making.

Residents explored the four levels of interactive displays and enjoyed reading some interesting facts. They have loved looking around the museum shop filled with handmade items from local people in Derby.

We headed to the café for refreshments of jam and cream scones with a hot drink before heading outside to look at the river Derwent and some of the lovely buildings surrounding the museum.

Residents have all said what a lovely morning they have had exploring their local town and museum.

Today we welcomed back the wonderful Becca Gee for an afternoon concert.

Residents came together in our dining room to hear the lovely vocals of talented singer Becca. She sang some of the residents favourite wartime songs in a special remembrance show.

The room was filled with singing, dancing and happy smiling faces. Even a few tears during those emotional songs that we all know and love.

Remembrance Sunday 🎖

Today we reflect and remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice and to those who return but never the same, together as a Nation.

This morning our residents watched the live coverage of Remembrance Sunday, at The Cenotaph in Whitehall, London.
We marked this very special day by holding a two-minute silence as we observed the wreath laying ceremony, and looked on at the march of nearly 10,000 veterans.

This afternoon we had our special remembrance service, held by our local Chaplain Alison. All three communities at Bluebell joined together in our reception area, wearing their poppies with pride.

Today we remembered,
We remembered those who served before
We remembered those who are no more
We remembered those who serve today
We remembered them all on remembrance day.

Lest we forget 🌺🪖

Remember, remember the 5th of November 💥

Tonight our residents celebrated bonfire night, we gathered in the garden with hot chocolates and sweet treats and enjoyed some sparklers. We had music playing in the garden and lots of us were up dancing and singing.
For those who didn’t wish to come in the garden, we had some virtual firework displays on each of our communities for all to enjoy, whilst some residents enjoyed looking out the windows and balconies at the pretty firework displays we could see.

👻🎃 Bewitching Tricks and Spooky Treats 👻🎃

Springvale Court Care Home, in Wrekenton, , was a den of ghoulish activity as the home’s spooky Halloween Adams Family got into full swing.

Colleagues embraced the spirit of Halloween by dressing up as The Addams Family. Morticia, Gomez, Pugsley, Wednesday, Uncle Fester, Cousin Itt and Lurch all visited Trinity Square in Gateshead town centre to hand out goodie bags for children and adults, and everyone had the opportunity to have their photo taken with the Addams Family.

General Manager, Gemma Rooney, shared: “Our staff love any excuse for fancy dress day! – we’ve all had a brilliant time.”

The team at Springvale Court commented: “It has been such a fun day. It was wonderful to see everyone go to so much effort to get into the Halloween spirit. And seeing the smiles on everyone’s faces’’.

🔍 Thursday Night Murder Club at Caldy Manor 🕵️‍♀️

It was an evening to remember at Caldy Manor Care Home on the as residents, colleagues and friends from Heswall & District Ladies Circle turned detectives, suspects and stars in the home’s very own Thursday Murder Club-themed evening.

Inspired by Richard Osman’s much-loved mystery novels, there were hilarious plot twists and some truly Oscar-worthy performances, the night was packed with laughs and fantastic acting from everyone involved.

A huge thank you to all, the experience was a roaring success.

Safe to say… no one saw the ending coming! 😉

This afternoon at Bluebell Park, residents have been arranging some beautiful autumn flower vases.

It was a lovely time spent discussing flowers and the different arrangements we can make. One resident really surprised themselves with the magnificent display they made without any help from others.

Residents have chosen to display these around the home in communal areas for everyone to enjoy.

Today we welcomed back Kevin and Marie for their Halloween show.

The residents enjoyed seeing all the wonderful costumes and guessing the movie scores from famous films relating to Halloween.

The Adams family and Ghostbusters were a great memory for many of our residents, who happily sang along to the tunes.

The friendly monster and Dave the minion were also really enjoyed by residents and they captured the funniness of Halloween.
