Some days, healing feels like peace.
Other days, it feels like chaos.

The truth is, growth is rarely neat. It is messy, uncomfortable, and often hard to see while you are in it 🌿

This week, try to trust your process, not the one you think you should be in, but the one you are actually living.

Let yourself be where you are, even if it is not where you thought you would be.

🎭The Mask We Wear 🎭

So many of us wear invisible masks every single day.
A calm smile when inside we are breaking.
A polite “I’m fine” when our chest feels tight.
A steady voice when our heart trembles.

We learn early in life that showing pain can feel unsafe,that vulnerability might be “too much.”
So we build walls. We perform. We hide.

But here is the quiet truth.
You were never meant to live behind a mask.
You deserve to be seen, fully, softly, honestly.

🛋️This room has the privilege of witnessing that moment.
It sees people for who they truly are.
It watches as masks are gently laid down,as stories unfold, as courage begins to breathe again.

In this space, there is no judgement, no pressure to be fixed.

💛Just warmth, safety, and trust.
Just space to be you, without performance or pretence.

Person centred therapy is not about labels or quick solutions.
It is about connection.
It is about rediscovering yourself beneath the layers you have learned to wear.
It is about remembering that you are enough, exactly as you are.

If you have been holding it all together for too long,
perhaps this is your invitation to rest.
To lay down the mask.
To let someone truly see you.

🌿 A Gentle Reintroduction from Me, Rachel @ Stressed To The Max 🌱

Hello, I’m Rachel 👋 If we haven’t met yet, or if it’s been a while, I wanted to take a moment to gently reintroduce myself.

I am a Person Centred Therapist with over 25 years of experience supporting people through some of life’s most tender, difficult and uncertain moments. This work is deeply meaningful to me 💛

🎓 I trained at Nottingham University, where I completed a Master of Arts in Counselling Studies.

But long before that, I recognised something important - that people often just need someone to really listen. Not to fix or advise, but to hear them, just as they are…that is what I offer.

🛋️ A safe space where you can show up in your own time and your own way. Where you are met with warmth, honesty and respect.

I work with adults, teenagers from 12 years old, couples and families 🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒👥👤 Whether in person here in Derby, over a video call or by phone. 📞💻

My aim is always the same; to create a space where you feel accepted, not judged. Where you are supported to explore whatever you need to, at a pace that feels right for you! I know how much courage it can take to reach out and I never underestimate what it means when someone chooses to take that first step. 😌

In the therapy room, all parts of you are welcome anger, sadness, laughter, confusion, hope. Everything is allowed to have a voice because healing begins when we feel safe enough to be seen.

So often we overlook the quiet victories, yet these are the moments that sustain us when life feels heavy.
The smallest steps can hold the greatest strength.

This week, take time to notice and celebrate them:

✨ Rising from bed when the day feels too much is a win
✨ Getting dressed even when motivation is low is a win
✨ Speaking kindly to yourself is a win
✨ Taking five minutes to breathe deeply is a win
✨ Choosing calm instead of chaos is a win
✨ Saying no when your energy is low is a win
✨ Taking a break before you burn out is a win
✨ Stepping outside for a breath of fresh air is a win
✨ Letting go of something that no longer serves you is a win

💛 Stand Up for Mental Health 💛

🗓️ 10th October 2025

As a person centred therapist, today holds deep meaning for me.

💛 World Mental Health Day reminds us that caring for our minds is not a once-a-year reflection, but an everyday act of love.

I wear yellow for light, for hope and for the belief that everyone deserves to be heard, valued and supported. 💛⭐️🌻🌙🌼🌕🎗️

Our mental wellbeing shapes how we live, love and heal. When we nurture it, we create space for clarity, compassion and peace. When we neglect it, everything else feels heavier.

Many carry silent struggles behind kind smiles. Therapy offers a space to pause, to breathe and to gently reconnect with yourself…not to fix, but to understand, accept and grow.

Reaching out for help is not weakness. It is courage. It is strength. It is love.

Let today remind us to care for our minds and for the minds of others, not only today but every day.

I was asked the other day, “What is one thing you want someone to hear today?”

My response was simple, to forgive yourself.

💭 Here are my thoughts.

Life throws up daily challenges that test our inner dialogue.
We can all recognise that inner critic or moments of self doubt.

Forgiveness is not always an easy feeling to offer ourselves and the past can sometimes get in the way.

Learning to forgive yourself is not always simple, but it is deeply freeing.
No matter what is happening in your life, taking a moment to pause, reflect, and forgive allows you to build a kinder and more compassionate relationship with yourself.

💛You are worthy of peace. You are worthy of grace. Allow grace to meet you where guilt once lived.

⛅️Stepping away matters. We all need time to pause, to breathe, and to let ourselves simply be. I feel deeply grateful for the chance to rest, and I want to remind you that you deserve that too.

💛Taking time off does not mean you are falling behind. It means you are honouring your needs and giving yourself space to return to life with more ease.

👥 I’m looking forward to seeing my clients next week and easing back into routine after my holiday. Until then, I hope your weekend brings you calm, care, and little moments that help you feel grounded.

☀️Making Space ☀️

Life has a way of filling up quickly. The calendar overflows, the to-do list stretches endlessly, and the noise of the world can feel relentless. In the midst of all of this, your mind and body may be quietly whispering their need for something simpler, for space.

☁️Space to breathe.
☁️Space to rest.
☁️Space to remember who you are beneath the busyness.

Creating space does not mean abandoning responsibilities or escaping life. Instead, it is about allowing yourself small, nourishing pauses woven gently into your days.

✨ Place your phone aside for a little while each day and notice how lightness begins to return

✨ Step outside for a short walk and let yourself simply notice the colours, sounds, and sensations around you

✨ Slow your breath whenever life feels rushed, and feel the calm spread gently through your body

These moments may seem small, yet they can be deeply transformative. They remind you that you are not defined by constant doing, but by your very being. When you give yourself permission to pause, you create a kinder rhythm for your body, your mind, and your heart.

🌿 Making space is an act of care. It is a gentle promise to yourself that you matter.
