The Baton of Hope is the largest UK su***de awareness initiative. It aims to boost the conversation around su***de prevention and help eliminate the stigma.

It is a an opportunity to raise awareness and get the conversation going around mental health.

Those affected by su***de will carry the baton along an iconic route through Derby, making key stops with a final event in the city centre.

If you would like to be a baton bearer or know someone who would, applications are open until 31 January 2025.

The organisers are looking for baton-bearers who:

* have lost someone to su***de - whether a loved one, friend, or colleague
* are survivors of a su***de attempt

Grief Kind Space Derbyshire

Grief kind space in Derby opened in November 2024. The support group runs every Friday between 11am - 1pm. Grief kind spaces are a safe and welcoming peer to peer support group surrounding all aspects of grief and loss. A space you can attend if you're feeling lonely or isolated.

The space is located at Derby Royal Hospital, third floor, "the gallery". Follow the posters and signs as you enter reception to the lift.

The services are fully confidential and a drop in service with no need to book or provide details.

It is Natalie’s privilege to support you, your family and friends in this time of upheaval, sadness and despair of loosing your loved one, by helping to plan their funeral service.

Working independently, therefore not affiliated to any church or humanist association, but able to incorporate any religion, beliefs, values or themes into the ceremony.

Natalie will meet with you to hold the space and time of planning a service with a gentle, supporting and re-assuring presence. Compassionately and attentively listening and understanding to what is needed, to guide and bring peace - like a beacon of light in challenging times.

We shall discuss and decide on how the ceremony will be facilitated and delivered and the content of the special day.

Natalie can gather the stories, memories, reflections and relationships, to capture the very essence, character and life lived of your loved one. Helping you to choose aspects of the service, such as; songs, music, hymns, reflections, poems and readings.

Every person and every life is unique and therefore every service will be different and individually tailored to the wishes, values and beliefs of you and your loved one.

Natalie will carefully take time to weave together a sacred, expressive and heartfelt service, which truly reflects your loved one and the life they lived.

Delivering a warm, sensitive, meaningful and fitting service, to celebrate their story and legacy. In turn helping yourself, family and friends to navigate through the grief and the planning of the service which can also provide some comfort and closure.

Should you wish to, there is an opportunity to be a part of speaking and delivering at the service. Also available is a service for you to lead your loved one’s ceremony. You decide what support and help you require.
