For cardiac arrests or choking, those minutes matter — a trained first aider can be the difference between life and death.

3. 💼 It’s a legal duty under the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 for employers to ensure immediate attention is given to staff who are injured or taken ill at work.

What do you do?

👉 You spring into action like the life-saving legend you are.
✔️ Check for dangers
✔️ Assess response
✔️ Shout for help
✔️ Open the airway & check breathing
✔️ Start CPR if needed
✔️ Use that defib if it’s nearby

Training doesn’t switch off when you’re off the clock – and neither does your instinct to help. 💪

To give mouth-to-mouth, or not? That is the question…

When it comes to CPR, your safety comes first.
If you feel comfortable giving rescue breaths—great! The guideline is to give 2 rescue breaths followed by 30 chest compressions.

But if you’re not comfortable , chest compressions alone can still make a difference.

🛡️ There are ways to protect yourself while still helping:
• Disposable pocket masks
• Reusable pocket masks
• A piece of clothing
• A plastic bag (carrier, nappy, or even a dog poo bag—just make sure to poke a hole!)

💡 Religious head coverings can stay in place during CPR.
