If you're enjoying the sunshine ☀️and firing up the barbecue this weekend, here's some tips to help you swap out the sausages and burgers and go for something healthier instead.
➡️Choose lean proteins - Go for skinless chicken breast, turkey, fish, prawns, or lean cuts of beef/pork 🥩. Try plant-based options like veggie kebabs, halloumi, or bean burgers.
➡️Load up on veg - Peppers, courgettes, mushrooms, tomatoes, aubergine, sweetcorn and onions grill really well 🌽. Try veg skewers, grilled corn on the cob (easy on the butter), or big mixed veg platters.
➡️ Healthier dips and sauces - Base marinades on olive oil, lemon juice, vinegar, herbs, garlic and spices 🍋🥑. Limit sugar-heavy barbecue sauces.
➡️Smarter sides - Swap crisps and creamy coleslaw for green salads, bean or lentil salads or wholegrain options like brown rice or quinoa🥗. Make coleslaw with yoghurt or a lighter dressing instead of full-fat mayo.
