I can and I will!
There were so many times during my training and on half marathon day that I wanted to stop and give up.
Conditions were never ideal, one injury led to another injury, I didn’t feel that I had done enough, I didn’t feel ready and I was continually comparing myself to last year.
But I’m not the same person as I was last year, my journey this year was different, it was about helping me to navigate grief.
Grief never leaves us, we carry it with us every single day and some days the weight of grief is heavier than others.
Last Sunday I was excited, nervous and extremely emotional and whilst I loved every second of the event I felt I was continually battling against myself to keep going.
‘I can and I will’ are the words that got me through it.
I was so proud of myself crossing the finishing line, however, what I am most proud of is my entire journey in getting to the finishing line, every single high and low point.
Hard times don’t break you, they shape you. If you choose to learn from them, they turn into your greatest strength instead of just pain.
