Sometimes the chaos isn’t meant to be fixed.
It’s meant to be felt, softened.

When everything feels shaken up - thoughts racing, body tense, emotions swirling - imagine a snow globe that’s just been turned upside down. You don’t force the flakes to settle. You simply place it down… and wait…..

Allow your breath to be that simple, gentle pause.

Slow inhale.
Easy extended exhale.
Nothing to solve. Nothing to chase.

Just allowing the swirl to gradually fall, one breath at a time.

✨Lately I’ve been blown away by what I’m seeing with Fascial Release therapy ✨
Clients are coming in with long-held tension, stiffness, pain they’ve “just learned to live with”… They have been to doctors, hospitals, scans and tests and told that there is no reason for their pain, no answers to what they are experiencing. They are given medication that can slightly numb the pain for a few hours, but never resolving the pain

After fascial release they are leaving feeling lighter, freer and more connected to their bodies.

Fascia is the web that holds everything together. When we’ve been stressed, overwhelmed, injured, had surgery or stuck in survival mode for a long time, that web of fascia tightens. Not because it’s broken - but because it’s been trying to protect you.

What I love about fascial release is that it’s gentle, slow and deeply respectful of your body and nervous system. With all the therapies I provide I always work within your Window of Tolerance, never forcing! Just working with and listening to the body and allowing it to soften in its own time.
 
People often tell me they notice:
• easier movement
• less pain and pulling
• deeper breaths
• better sleep
• a sense of calm they weren’t expecting

Let’s talk about something I hear a lot…

“I’ve heard somatic work can be intense.”
“I don’t want to relive trauma.”
“I’m scared it might be too much for my body.”
‘’I’m afraid to open a can of worms.’’
‘’ I don’t want to revisit my past’’
I don’t want to talk about it’’

And honestly? That fear makes sense.

A lot of what people see online about somatic work looks big, emotional, dramatic - shaking, releasing, screaming, crying, pushing through. That can give the impression that somatic work has to be overwhelming to work.

But here’s the truth:
👉 Work that feels scary, forced or overwhelming is not supportive of your nervous system. When this work becomes overwhelming it forces our body into fight or flight, having the opposite effect of what you are looking for.

Your nervous system doesn’t heal through being pushed.
It heals through safety, choice, pacing and trust.

When somatic work moves too fast or ignores where someone actually is, it can:
– Increase anxiety
– Activate survival responses
– Leave people feeling dysregulated instead of grounded

That’s not healing. That’s too much, too soon.

I didn’t realise how hard I was pushing…
until my body started whispering.
Then nudging.
Then shouting.

Working too much, holding it all together, staying in “go mode” for too long kept my nervous system in survival mode.

Pain. Tight shoulders. Shallow breath. Racing thoughts. Inability to sleep. Rest that didn’t actually feel restful. A constant level of urgency.

Turns out, I wasn’t just tired.
My nervous system was stuck in go-go-go mode - stuck in fight and flight.

Burnout didn’t happen overnight. It built up slowly from doing too much for too long without enough pause, softness and not listening to my body.

I’ve changed the pace now.
Moving slower.
Listening sooner.
Being kinder to myself instead of measuring my success on how much I do! No more productivity at all costs

And the shift is real:
✨ My breath is deeper
✨ My body feels softer
✨ I’m responding instead of reacting
✨ Rest actually restores me again

This is what regulation looks like in real life.

Not doing less because you’re lazy - but BEING in life differently because your body and nervous system matters!

So… what does nervous system regulation actually mean?

Honestly?

It’s about finding ways to help your body calm itself down.

Most of us are walking around tense without realising it - tight shoulders, clenched jaw, breathing only into the upper chest, always feeling “on edge”, exhausted but unable to properly rest.

Your body has a built-in stress response. That’s normal - it’s what helps us survive!

But when life is busy, hard, or overwhelming, that stress response can get stuck on - stuck in ‘fight or flight’
Nervous system regulation is just teaching you simple ways to help your body switch off this stress mode and feel a bit more settled again.

- No talking through your trauma
- No revisiting the ‘story’
- No digging into the past.
- No forcing anything.

Just gentle practices that help you breathe easier, feel less anxious, more present and cope a little better with everyday life.

🌿 Gentle Grounding Practice 🌿
Take 5 minutes for yourself, for a gentle grounding practice you can use at home.

Find a comfortable seat or lie down.
Place one hand on your chest and one on your belly.
Breathe slowly in for 4 counts, out for 6, softening your shoulders on each exhale.
If counting bothers you, or you are 'in your head', simply follow the breath, coming in through the nose, down the throat and into your lungs, then your belly.
Just bring your focus to your breath and we can calm the mind.

Notice any sensations without judging them.
If it feels safe, roll your shoulders gently back and down.
Stay with steady breaths for 1 - 3 breaths.
Finish by naming one thing you felt in your body in this moment (softly, to yourself).

This practice can help calm breath, ease shoulder and neck tension, and bring clearer focus - especially helpful when we are feeling stressed or anxious.

Use it as a brief reset anytime you need.
