This patient attended with a painful corn between the second toe and overlapping big toe – an area that can cause significant discomfort when walking.

🧣🔥 Cosy season is here – but hot water bottles can be risky! 🔥🧣

As temperatures drop, many of us reach for hot water bottles to stay warm. But please be careful – previously we treated a patient who sustained a thermal burn from a hot water bottle.

➡️ The burn caused a fluid-filled blister which required clinical drainage and pressure reduction, followed by a sterile dressing to minimise infection risk and aid healing.

💡 Stay warm safely:
➡️ Never use boiling water
➡️ Always use a cover – not directly on skin
➡️ Replace old hot water bottles regularly

🦶 Burns can take a long time to heal – especially on pressure areas like the feet – and may increase risk of infection.

If you sustain a burn or blister – DO NOT pop it. Seek professional advice.
