As a mum, what's your goal with postpartum recovery?
I asked my followers what they wish they knew more of, now they are postpartum.
Because it's no secret, postnatal care is nowhere near the level of care you get during pregnancy.
I witness that daily, and have seen it in family members first hand, all over the UK, back home and other parts of the world.
How can research be so evident in some parts of the world but ignored in others?
Your scar for example, the lack of support we have for this, "keep it clean and dry" "no fancy products" etc etc.
How does that help a scar that's indented, an overhang that's developed, a scar that's healed well but continues to have sharp pains on movement or during s*x. We need to promote scar work.
What about your overhang? How does not moving for 6-12 weeks help heal one of the biggest worries and questions new mums have. "Will i have an overhang".
Why are we not promoting early breath work for increased blood flow, abdominal binders for reducing swelling and pain, all while encouraging slow activity of deep core muscles?
What are we waiting for, postpartum needs more support, from all areas, not just physically.
Staffing is short, the system is stretched, but what is the new answer?
We can keep ignoring such an important time.
