To my yoga buddies...read this and shiver/weep/blaspheme/nod sagely. But do read it.
From my very first downward dog, I was hooked. But training as a yoga teacher led me to a miserable world of false promises, exploitation and near-total burnout. Could I find my way back to the mat?

Not pretty, not sexy, not contoured…all hail the humble foam block! Originally intended to be stuffing for a sofa, or padding for a bench, it’s the ugly duckling of yoga props that I wouldn’t be without 🐤
It holds your head, supports your hips, raises the floor to your hand, enables you to sit taller and relax deeper.
🧡
I’ll be exploring the wonders of blocks, belts, bricks, bolsters and more at my special workshop ‘The Power of Props’ on Sunday May 14th Sow & Root, Devizes.

Excited to share my love for yoga-props and a supported yoga practice at a special workshop on Sunday 14th May .
🧘♂️
Using bricks/blocks/belts, the wall, and through partner-work, we will find new ways-in to familiar poses (standing/seated) as well as exploring more advanced poses (inversions, back-bends) that we sometimes avoid! If we are newer to yoga, the use of props helps to improve our understanding of the ‘mechanics’ of a pose; if we are more experienced, they enable us to deepen actions within a pose, and sometimes to experience it like new.
🌟
Come join me, and take away lots of ideas and inspiration to support your practice.

Hi! I’m a passionate Yogi and experienced Instructor based in Devizes, Wiltshire. I qualified in Dublin through Yoga Alliance in 2012, and have since taught in Ireland, Italy and the UK.
Owing to the coronavirus pandemic, my classes and workshops are currently held online via Zoom. To view current timetable and book, go to https://bookwhen.com/yogihelen. Keep an eye on this page for news and updates.
I teach my own style of ‘slow-flow’ - influenced from the Iyengar and Ashtanga/Vinyasa schools. We move through mindful, flowing sequences of poses, always with a focus on good alignment & technique, using props to assist. It is both an energising, and deeply relaxing style of yoga. We also explore pranayama (breathwork) and simple meditation techniques.
I teach in a light-hearted manner to put beginners and experienced Yogis at ease. I aim to create a supportive, safe and tranquil space, and I offer lots of 1-1 assistance throughout the class.
As Rolf Gates puts it ‘Yoga is not a work-out, but a work-in’ - and it is also not just for the flexible, young, or female! Yoga truly is for everybody, and the benefits can be life-changing. It’s a joy to me to witness the physical, emotional and spiritual growth students experience from making Yoga a regular part of their lives.
I’m available for group and 1-1 tuition for community groups, colleges, workplaces and anybody wanting to explore the many benefits of this life-affirming practice. Send a message through this page or via helen.langford@gmail.com.
I look forward to seeing you on the mat very soon!
