Optimum Corner is a cosy, intimate venue, suitable for one-to-one and small groups meetings. The building is on the corner of Eastleigh Road and Waylands, in Devizes. Although the postal address is Eastleigh Road, the entrance is on Waylands. There is on-site parking for 5 cars, as well as plenty of free parking on the road. If you would like to use our space, for other bump, birth and baby related meetings and events, do please get in contact to discuss this.

Devizes, Melksham and Calne Breastfeeding Support is running, as usual, this afternoon (Friday 18th), here at Optimum Corner.

Meet other new and expectant parents, have a cup of tea (or coffee, hot chocolate, squash or water) and if you have any feeding concerns, you can discuss them with a fully qualified Breastfeeding Counsellor.

There's toys for all ages of children, and scales are available, should you wish to weigh your baby.

We'll have the fan out, and there will be plenty of cold water, in the fridge!

Our next starting solids workshop is just over 2 weeks away, on Tuesday 29th July. It will be an opportunity to discuss starting solids with your baby, alongside other local parents.

During the session we will cover:
🍎 when to start
🥕 the signs of readiness
🍉 baby-led weaning versus purees
🥦 what equipment you need
🧀 foods which are safe and what to avoid
🍊 milk feeds
🍞 drinking with meals
🥑 gagging and choking

The session is suitable for parents with babies who will soon be starting solids or have very recently started them. You are more than welcome to bring your baby along with you.

Tomorrow (Thursday 26th June) the topic for our Optimum Bumps session is osteopathy. Sian, an osteopath who works at The Melksham Movement Clinic, will be there to answer all your questions about how osteopathy can be of benefit to both you and your baby.

This evening a pregnant mum is coming to Optimum Corner, for a bra fitting. It will be her second fitting here, as she had one with when pregnant with her previous baby.

And tomorrow evening the topic for Optimum Bumps is hospital bags. What should you pack in your hospital bag? Can you take more than one bag? Do you really need disposable knickers? What should you take in the way of snacks? Will you need cash? Should you take my own birth ball? Or your own pillows? What toiletries should you take?

Even if you're planning a home birth, it's a good idea to have all your 'birthy stuff' kept in one easy to access place.
Although the sessions are free to attend, you do need to book your place, as spaces are limited.

This coming Tuesday (17th June) Optimum Corner are holding a cloth nappy meet, from 1pm until 2:30pm.

It is an opportunity for parents and expectant parents to find out about reusable nappies, and to buy and sell pre-loved nappies and accessories.

Come along and enjoy a chat with other parents/expectant parents.

Get to see and touch lots of different reusable nappies, ask any questions you may have.

There will be a large selection of pre-loved nappies, wipes and wetbags for sale. Nappies will be £1 each, and accessories will be even cheaper.

Children of all ages welcome.
