The Quiet Moments Between Sessions
There’s a lot of quiet thinking behind the work that happens in my therapy room.
After a session finishes, I usually walk straight upstairs to my office and take a moment to absorb the conversation that’s just taken place.
Therapy can hold a lot of emotion, a lot of story, and a lot of courage from the person sitting in the chair.
I take a little time to reflect on what we’ve explored together, to let my own body settle, and to think about the different ideas or approaches that might support them moving forward.
Sometimes that moment involves a coffee and a bit of quiet thinking before the next session begins.
It’s important to me that I properly let go of one client before the next one arrives, so that each person who walks through the door gets my full attention and care.
Just a small glimpse into the quieter moments of a therapist’s day.
