North Kirklees Maternity Voices Partnership MVP

North Kirklees Maternity Voices Partnership MVP We want to hear about your experiences so we can work to improve the local maternity services.

The Maternity Voices Partnership, or MVP, is for anyone living in North Kirklees who is pregnant, has recently given birth, or is the partner of someone who is. The North Kirklees MVP is a working group, welcoming women, birthing people and their families, as well as commissioners and healthcare staff including maternity staff, and staff from other organisations to work together to ensure that mat

ernity services are as good as they can be for all of us living in North Kirklees. We are really fortunate to have representatives on the MVP from organisations including health and maternity services, public health, Auntie Pam's, Thriving Kirklees (0-19 service), Locala, Healthwatch, CCG's and more. We meet regularly, providing up to date information on services available to local families, as well as listening to local voices to help facilitate change and development across all of these services. We especially want to hear from people who have used these services, as it's only through hearing real experiences that we can ensure that services continue to improve for everybody who will need them in the future. If you would like any more information or would like to get involved please message us - we'd love to hear from you.

Bronte Birth Centre hosted a listening and celebration event to coincide with Iftar.

A huge thank you to all the families who joined us, and to our event partners Healthwatch and Happy MOMents for their support.

It was a lovely opportunity to come together, listen, share experiences and celebrate with our community.

In October 2023, Katie Robinson and her husband Jamie from Cleckheaton faced the heartbreaking loss of their daughter, Freya, who was stillborn. As they honour Freya’s second birthday, they have made the heartfelt decision to fundraise for an Abi Cooling Cot, which they will generously donate to Pinderfields Hospital.

Katie shared: "Thanks to a previously donated cooling cot, we were able to spend three precious days with Freya in hospital. That time meant the world to us and inspired us to take action. We’d now like to give more families the opportunity to have precious time with their angels.”

The Abi Cooling Cot is a specially designed refrigerated unit that allows families to spend more time with their baby than would otherwise be possible. This time can be vital in helping parents bond, say goodbye, and begin to process their grief.
