Soul Hut

Soul Hut - Monthly Meditation in OX11.
- 1:1 or Group Hatha/Vinyasa/Pranayama Classes. I became glued to this idea that my body and the breath could heal me. # # #

It's a sunny day and I'm playing out in the garden, with bubbles and colours from the sky, shine, a sprinkle of water from the watering can that my Father is feeding the garden plants and flowers with, and here I am with my dolls pushing them around in my pram as a Mother as a 5 year old feeling the human energies that wander around in my back garden. I've always been playful, interested in human emotions and behaviours, fascinated and captured by others, and the exploration of the body. I've come to the realisation that yoga has always been present within my soul from an early age or all of my soulful years. I began an intensive week of yoga for the 'first time' after my first year of University in Cornwall. I jumped in and followed the 2nd series of Ashtanga Yoga with a lady that recommended soup, and bread and butter to soothe our muscles. Then I moved into a yoga module on my Theatre degree in Falmouth whilst at University. In November 2016 I completed my Yoga Teacher Training qualification in Ashtanga Vinyasa, Hatha and Pranayama in Bali, Indonesia. I am 200hour Certified and Insured. Since then I have been diving deep into my psyche with healing practises and therapy. Meditation has seen me through most days, and whilst I still practise yoga, yin yoga is where my bodily make-up sits most happily. But I really enjoy powering my students through the Vinyasa series. My favourite yogi hobby is sitting with our breath. This is what we can rely on whilst living.

🌳 Earth Day | In the fields the other day, I was so grateful to admire the green. Making movements to protect our home is also part and parcel of admiring our earth. I think small movements such as using less plastic in our home is impactful. Of course, if the shops use less plastic that would help. But, supermarkets are using less plastic these days I've noticed. I believe in change. I think we've gotta have hope. And love it, rather than trash it. Also slowing down, not gallivanting on a plane every weekend. I support travelling, I really do, but I think we can see and experience more by taking the slower route. I'm learning.
PS - this song was one we practised at Rock Choir. Community activities that bring people together are humbling knowing you don't need to travel far to have fun.

Yoga for me has been tapping at my soul like you may crack open a monkey nut! 🥜
It's raw, like when the full moon arrives, it shows you part of yourselves, that you wish not to share.

I strongly believe we will continually be in a place of self-improvement throughout our lives. But we can give ourselves tips and words of encouragement.
👣 I am keen to train my feet to find ground, so this can aid my mental health. Walking bare feet brings me back down to earth and placing my feet fully down before I fall into a wide legged stretch is only going to benefit, not just my posture in the pose, but mental clarity. I am sure there's some science out there for that!

That's all for now,
Natasha May 🌬️

Yesterday I supported women play football in the semi-finals. It felt right, their right to be there. We've come along way in this world. Yes, further to go, but it felt such a liberation as well as celebration. Men and women supporting women.
👏🏻
I've been thinking lately, I guess what I was training myself from a girl to a grown woman, was that we don't own our female friends.
We are walking ourselves home and journeying with them. I always felt these cliques and girl gangs were strange. I wanted to be independent, not the same as the other girl. So, when others bi***ed, or voiced "you can't be part of our gang", and Mean Girls quoted "On Wednesdays we wear pink" this provoked thought.
So, I invite my 'females' to meet my other ladies, so we can be each others companions, as our paths take different routes.

I am tired. That full moon tug of energy is really like a tug of war pulling at sleep, routine, diet. How about you? It's been a busy time, but I think if I've got anything right this week, it's drinking water. Hydration is a biggy, let's start there. I hope you have the weekend of your dreams, even if it's mostly sleeping, that's so productive!
Side note, instagram is only letting me choose the music I've never heard of, why!?

"Yogis have their s**t together" 🌚

I think there's a still a misconception that those that meditate or practise yoga in some form or another, have everything in order.

I'm on day 3 of practising 10 minutes of meditation a day. It's not regular. It certainly isn't every day. But I'm grateful. I'm grateful for having every day to start again.

Here's the leaflets I printed yesterday. The plan's to distribute them in my community tonight. This is in between actual real life stresses of work and home. We can have our s**t together, but sometimes it is s**t, and all the time we are the same as everyone else.

Lately I've been practising nasal
breathing👃🏻

Alternate nostril breathing (or Pranayama) focuses on controlling the breath, breathing through one nostril and out the other, and so forth.
With nasal breathing, like Pranayama, you keep your mouth closed, and smoothly inhale and exhale, but through both nostrils at the same time. It can calm the mind just as well as Anuloma Viloma (alternate nostril breathing).

I have been suffering with allergies this year, bouts of sneezing, non-related to covid. It is known that nasal breathing filters dust and allergens, and the our oxygen increases tenfold.

Find me online in class starting Sunday 30th October.

What to take away:
🌬️Breathing exercises and patterns.
🌬️A calm aura.
🌬️Your breath.

What to bring:
🍁A shawl or cover up.
🍁Yourself.
🍁A pillow or block.
