Apologies there is no baby group this morning as Kate has lost her voice!. We look forward to welcoming babies and their grown ups back next week at 11am for songs, baby sign language and a cuppa.

A fantastic day here yesterday. We enjoyed some September sun ☀️ in the garden, a delicious BBQ and some great live music by singer and guitarist Bob Nagy.

There were compliments to Chef and our Kitchen team for the great spread. After lunch, Bob played a great set of classic 60s hits. Old and new friends sang and danced together. In fact, we had so much fun some of us didn't want to leave the dancefloor! There were so many great moments we'll be posting more pictures of that to come...

Finally, a big thanks to all our staff who went above and beyond to help make the day magical. The smiles said it all. ✨

It's been a busy week at Oxford Manor. We started off with a church service and visit from Sydney the therapy dog. We celebrated International Country Music Day with a name that tune quiz, Johnny Cash film and cactus craft 🌵. Today's memory lane sessions about fashion brought back images of flares and mini skirts for some of us but no one admitted to platform boots! As usual we also enjoyed a bit of pampering in the salon, a good read at our listening book club, plenty of arts and crafts, games and lots of smiles at our baby group.

Congratulations to all the Harwell Produce Show winners today. It was great to see some of our residents enter their art too.

Today we enjoyed some rhymes with signs at our baby group and a relaxing session reminiscing about our gardens. The smells of cut grass, honeysuckle and rose transported us to some of our favourite places.

Last but not least it's been a pleasure to celebrate two resident's birthdays this week Between the balloons and cakes it's been wonderful to see families, residents and colleagues getting together to make days extra special.

We'll be learning some baby sign language, playing with treasure baskets, meeting other families and making connections across the generations at Oxford Manor Care Home, Didcot Road, OX11 6DN . Tea and smiles included!

A care home in Didcot is bringing generations together through the power of sign language.

A big thank you to Mike who brought Sydney the therapy dog in to meet residents today. Sydney was an instant hit with his wonderfully calming presence and star quality! Its no wonder we saw so many smiles today. Having already been asked 'When can I see him again?' we are so pleased he will be visiting us fortnightly.

We'll be having a break from our baby class tomorrow but will be back again weekly from Saturday 6 September at 11am.

Why not drop in to learn some baby sign language with your little one? Feel free to stay for a cuppa with our residents too. It's great for our wellbeing to sing, sign, smile and make connections across the generations.

Suitable for babies not yet walking. Smiles included. 😊

We've been getting creative in different ways this week. Creating an Elvis scrapbook brought back lots of memories, got us tapping our feet to some old favourites and chatting with new friends.

Today we relaxed while choosing and arranging pictures to make mood boards. Residents got satisfaction from their completed pieces and enjoyed the process of making something whatever their ability.

A very very happy birthday to Andy 🎉 We are so pleased you enjoyed the finer things in life today included good food, friendship and even a little sunshine. Thanks again to Chef for a delicious birthday cake too!

After a quiz this morning, armed with balloons, we got moving to music. Our sensory balloons filled with different textures got plenty of smiles too and helped with our dexterity. Add a quick game of Who Wants to be a Millionaire, some time in the garden and a Friday night comedy and it's been a good day all round!

It would have been Neil Armstrong's birthday this week. We took the opportunity to share memories of the moon landings and relax listening to music inspired by space. Think Rocket Man, Fly me to the Moon, Life on Mars and Holst's Planets for starters. Residents even got creative and painted our own planets in the night sky! ⭐

A very happy birthday to our resident Peter 🥳. We hope he enjoyed spending time with family today and course some of chef's delicious chocolate birthday cake!

There's been something for everyone today. We've enjoyed a quiz, pampering from our lovely hairdresser Laura, watched women's cricket and a WW2 codebreaker film, shaken instruments to some familiar tunes, remembered soap operas and enjoyed the countryside around the home on our nature walk in the sunshine. 🌞
