The closing of Winter but not yet Spring
Seeing these first cheerful snowdrops are like a baby’s first smile or child’s pose after your third vinyasa, a very welcome sight!
We know the turning of the season is still a few months off but celebrating the potential of Spring has been something communities have marked for generations such as the festival of Imbolc.
I particularly love that Imbolc is Irish for ‘in the belly’ A reminder that brighter days are coming.

So perhaps you will join me over the next few days in slowing down to reflect. take pause to notice the small buds on the trees and the first blooms of the year.
Not because we have arrived but because we’re on our way.
We gently cleanse and soften the first layers of soil.Warming the ground giving it a knock
Continuing to tend the fire until the warmth of the sun returns.

I feel it too. The stiffening of tension.
It’s a protective instinct. We stiffen and bristle. Hardened by life’s pressures and a broken world
Sometimes paralysed by helplessness hindering any progress.

Hold on to the moments in between. Strength and effort punctuated by ease can create a force great enough to fight back.

Embarrassing my children in public since 2016…

I heard we were sharing life 10 years ago. This is the one and only photo I have of myself from that year. The rest were of day trips, Peppa pig world, birthday cakes and sandcastles. Clearly life was busy and full so I had to get my yoga practice in somehow.

I’m pretty sure this is what the grown ups meant when they said “I’m on my last nerve”
Life is demanding and we need to build a resilient nervous system in order to navigate all of its ups and downs.
Taking control of how you respond and walk through your day means knowing how to improve this very important group of nerves.
As always hurray for yoga 💜

It’s a common misconception that being still or ‘relaxing’ is easy.
Especially if you’re experiencing added stressors in your life right now.
If you’ve ever had downtime available and still not been able to completely switch off - you’ll know what I mean.

Gently moving the body, smoothing out tension and activating the breath can help regulate your nervous system.
Stillness comes more easily when we feel safe, calm and ready to receive.

We journey towards stillness this week - I’ll see you there xx

Throw back to my own cheeky boy trying to sneak into the blanket bag…
I remember this time.
It was busy and oh so tiring but full of tiny moments of joy.
Trying to juggle all the balls
Just Life.
When we look back it feels so fast and a tiny blip in time but these are the days. What’s that song… 🎵 “thank you for the days, the endless days, the sacred days you gave me”

It doesn’t take away from the seemingly mountainous tasks and battles you face because when you’re in it there’s no hindsight, no looking back yet.
So if you’re feeling a little bashed up by life today.
Be kind to yourself better days will come and you’ll be able to look back and see the blips were hopefully few and far between.

Research confirming what most of us already know:Prenatal yoga is clinically impactful ✨

Let’s add calming, soothing and a great comfort for women.

The full study found that “engaging in yoga during pregnancy reduces the rate of In-labour C-Section, decreases discomfort and encourages spontaneous vaginal birth in primiparous singleton pregnant women”
“Some pregnant women have narrated that yoga practice helps them to feel more empowered and to develop better coping strategies to overcome fear of childbirth”

That’s not mentioning connecting with others, making life ongoing friends and learning the skill vital to parenthood - carving out tine for your own wellbeing.

If this sounds like something you would love to add to your pregnancy journey, join us. Every Monday in West Hagbourne, Didcot.
Booking essential - can’t make it to class? I’ve created a full online course to guide you through the trimesters.

A reminder that we’re still Wintering over here 🧘🏻‍♀️❄️
Yoga for the winter season means maintaining warmth, downward movement to activate growth, so deepening our understanding of the nervous system in order to build strength and resilience.
We may feel the pull towards the new but not with grand gestures of strenuous action but instead a tunnelling, a slow confluence where we dip into the larder of our harvest to help make the plans and dream the dreams.

Full class schedules are available in the links - Restore returns on the last Saturday of the month and brand new terms of pre and post natal yoga.
Join us on Monday’s 7.45pm for Serene Balance gentle flow, Tuesday’s 8pm for Shred (hiit style dynamic yoga) with myofascial release and yin cool down, Wednesday 8pm for CSV (dynamic warming flow) and Thursday lunchtimes for Shred express 40 min.
