Give yourself permission this month to flourish šŸ’–

It would be fairly difficult to do anything right now without noticing all the beautiful flowers and greenery that is emerging all around.
Late Spring is truly vibrant and in my opinion a natural time to be more active without having to overcome the heat of a summer.
Our theme this month will be to flourish.
Creating the conditions for connected, nourished and sustainable growth.
Flourishing through challenges
Cultivating our individual spark
Interdependence
To be courageous
And above all reminding ourselves that even the most beautiful rose has imperfections, in the words of one direction….That’s what makes you beautiful.

Happy 1st May, full moon and Beltane - What a day!!

Sharing my precious blooms with you all on the flower moon.
Daisy dog, the first roses and the best moon spam of the year with Hawthorne blossom almost stealing the show.

May you have more sunshine, abundance and countless blessings in this brighter half of the year šŸ’–šŸŒ¼

Too much effort = exhaustion/burnout
Too much ease = stagnation/no growth

We need both. That’s a challenge in itself because the scale will tip too far at times but the in between where we consciously choose = Yoga

Hope you’re all having a wonderful day sprinkled with just enough effort and ease to guide you on your way.

As patanjali noted in the yoga sutras ā€œThe posture should be steady and comfortable/easefulā€

It can be challenging and transformative but easeful nonetheless.

Turns out I had a lot to say about this so please share if you know someone who needs it. The app is not about promoting long chats.

In a nutshell: in the first weeks and months postpartum, you have significantly less Oestrogen and even less so if you’re breastfeeding.
That means you could experience similar symptoms to perimenopause such as joint pain, fatigue, low mood, vaginal dryness and irritability

Moreover, the hormone that promotes breast milk production (prolactin) can cause laxity in the tissues and ligaments such as pelvic floor and thinning of the vaginal wall.

This is why being measured, careful and scaling vigorous exercise within the first year post Parton is extremely important to help you feel confident and most importantly supported.

Love to all the new mamas out there, you’re absolute rockstars 🫶

There are many reasons women enjoy lacing up their running shoes and hitting the road.
However, if you’re looking to improve performance or even your half marathon/marathon time specifically, there’s one thing you should be adding to your preparation and yoga practice.
Slowing down.
Yin and Restorative yoga go be exact.
It may sound counterintuitive but for women especially, recovery and slow interospective practice can create the balance our bodies crave. The nourishment we receive from slow movement and meditation can allow for the same ease in everything we do.
That seed of yang is held within the yin, one turns into the other.
We’re cyclical, we need both and I challenge you to add one restorative or yin pose to your day for a month and see what happens. ✨

Supporting warmth, nourishing the pelvic tissues and organs.
There’s no obligation to stand on your head, creating a slight elevation for your pelvis will offer similar support for your body if you need it.
Adding this gentle inversion to a daily practise or routine can help reset, invigorate or invite a slowing down if that’s what your body needs.
It’s something I particularly recommend to all my peri/menopausal students struggling with poor sleep, low libido, brain fog and night sweats.

Interoception = the ā€œeighth senseā€ that allows you to feel and interpret internal body, to maintain bodily balance. Crucial for emotional regulation, self-awareness, and mental health.

We don’t DO yoga we ā€˜feel’ it.

April: Start here

There’s something for every season, every phase and every mood.
We’re enjoying a rare sunshine full Spring holiday so no daytime offerings this week, however the studio is open as usual for evening yoga.

New Mum and baby term starts Thursday 16th and Restore is scheduled for the 18th April - spaces are limited.

Our focus remains on balancing seasonal elements, supporting feminine cyclical rhythm and building our amazing community of women.

Full details and class descriptions are in my bio links or ping me a message and I’ll recommend something for you.šŸ’–

Nature is moving and there’s renewal everywhere.
The tiny shoots of potential and all things NEW!

So yes go for it, what are you starting? What are you changing?

I can help you with a yoga class if that’s in the plans šŸ’–

P.S it’s a BiG day for the moon.

I’ve taught this breath in every class this week, which means it’s incredibly versatile.
Kumbakha breath brings clarity and a focus on completing the fullest of breaths at both ends.
Retaining when full and empty of breath creates a moment of spaciousness without rushing to complete the breath because life is busy and demanding enough.

With added bonus to deep core movement and awakening.
It’s for everyone but if you’re pregnant or have high blood pressure skip the holding and slow it down a little more.
