๐ Feel Yourself Friday ๐
Your reminder to get in touch with yourself โ literally.
October (and every month!) is a time to raise awareness about breast cancer โ and one of the most powerful things you can do is know your own body. Regular self-checks can help you notice changes early, when treatment is most effective.
๐ฉท How to Check Yourself:
1. Look in the mirror:
โข Stand with your shoulders straight and hands on your hips.
โข Look for changes in size, shape, or symmetry.
โข Check for dimpling, puckering, redness, swelling, or skin that looks like an orange peel.
โข Notice if your ni***es have changed direction or show any discharge.
2. Raise your arms:
โข Repeat your visual check with your arms lifted.
3. Feel while lying down:
โข Use the pads of your three middle fingers to feel your breast in circular motions, covering the entire area โ from collarbone to top of the abdomen, and from armpit to cleavage.
โข Use light, medium, and firm pressure to feel different tissue depths.
4. Feel while standing or in the shower:
โข Many people find this easiest when skin is wet and slippery.
๐ฉ Signs and Symptoms to Watch For:
โข A lump or thickened area that feels different from the rest of the breast tissue
โข Unexplained pain in the breast or armpit
โข Swelling, redness, or rash on the breast
โข Changes in skin texture or color
โข Ni**le discharge (especially if itโs bloody or occurs without squeezing)
๐ช And Remember:
๐ Men can get breast cancer too.
Although itโs less common, itโs just as serious. Men should also check regularly and talk to their doctor if they notice any unusual lumps or changes.
Early detection saves lives. Make โFeel Yourself Fridayโ your personal reminder โ because knowing your body could save it. ๐
