Year 8 to Year 11 pupils who missed out on receiving the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine in school can access community catch-up clinics on Monday 21st July 2025.

It is essential that both boys and girls receive the vaccine, as it offers protection against several types of cancer such as cervical cancer, head and neck cancer, cancers of the a**s and ge***al cancer.

The HPV vaccine is also very effective at preventing ge***al warts.

Details for the catch-up clinics are as follows:

🔹 9am-1pm, Barry Hospital, Colcot Road, Barry CF62 8YH

🔹 9am-1pm, Rumney Primary Care Centre, Barmouth Road, Cardiff CF3 3LG

These clinics are appointment-only, so please contact the School Immunisation Team on 02920 907661/664 to make an appointment for your child.

Monday 9th June marks the beginning of National Blood Donor Week! 🩸🩸🩸

is a week where we raise awareness of the lifesaving importance of blood donation, and to encourage those who have never donated to give it a go!

These donations play a vital role in saving lives each day by supporting a range of treatments, from helping recovering accident victims and patients with blood cancers to supporting mothers and new-born babies during childbirth. The Welsh Blood Service supports 19 hospitals across the country and relies on donations from blood, platelet and bone marrow donors to support patients in need.

Key Facts to remember:
• 1 blood donation can save 3 lives, or 6 newborn babies.
• Our hospitals need to collect 350 donations every day.
• Only 3% of the eligible population in Wales donate blood.
• We need YOUR help! Even if you can't donate, please help by sharing information.
