Bowerfield Court alongside its neighbour home Bowerfield House joined in together to celebrate "Earth Day", a day which is held annually to raise awareness about environmental issues, protect the planet's natural resources, and promote sustainability. Members of the team, as well as some of those living with us came out for a day of litter picking around the gardens and grounds lead by regional manager Katrina.

Everyone had a fantastic time not only getting our surroundings cleaner but enjoying some fresh air as it was a bright sunny day...This leisure time not only brought 2 homes together it also helped to disconnect and reconnect for some, making new friends promoting more socialisation. Thank you to all of those who came along and stopped the clock for a reminder to protect our planet! πŸŒπŸƒ

This week, our baking club made some delicious chocolate chip cookies and talked about our favourite desserts and sweet snacks. It's always good to socialise and do practical movement, with a yummy end result! πŸͺ

At Bowerfield House we had plenty of activities and celebrations over the Easter period. These pictures showcase our wonderful musical bingo winners, Little Pat and Philip P! We had a great time during musical bingo with lots of singing along and laughter. It will definitely return as an activity in the future as it was a great success and we truly felt the community atmosphere that is so essential in our home.

We also thought we'd highlight the efforts made by the people who live with us in decorating our home. We painted some beautiful ceramic eggs in the morning and displayed them throughout our Easter celebrations. Easter is a time of showing appreciation and gratitude for our loved ones and the kindness they give us, and we feel very grateful for the fantastic community we have throughout Bowerfield.

On Friday 3rd of April, we held a fantastical Alice in Wonderland-themed tea party and bake sale to kick off our weekend of Easter celebrations at Bowerfield House. The Ground Floor Lounge and Conservatory were thematically decorated, full of bright colours, and the staff got into the spirit by dressing up as the main characters - which brought lots of laughter and joy to the team, those living with us, and family members who were visiting.

The food was the real highlight of the day and took centre stage, our bake sale table was filled with a homemade selection of sweet treats, including buttery shortbread biscuits, zesty lemon drizzle cupcakes, rich sticky toffee slices with a toffee frosting, double chocolate drizzled chocolate brownies, and indulgent slices of cherry Bakewell cake. Our team of chefs, led by head chef, Steve, dedicated themselves to making something for everyone and leaning into the inventiveness of the world of Alice in Wonderland promoting a hug on a plate focus.

Alongside the cakes, we served plenty of tea, coffee, and fizzy drinks (including sugar free options), so everyone could sit down and spend quality time together. It was wonderful to see our community come together, as we hosted many residents from our neighbouring home, Bowerfield Court, who added greatly to the atmosphere around the bake sale table. Family members also popped in and got involved, making the whole afternoon feel warm and full of life.

In the afternoon we hosted a game of musical bingo from a playlist specifically made to include all of those living with us favourite songs and artists. There were lots of singing and we had two winners in Little Pat, who won a basket of flowers, and Philip who got an extra sugar rush from a chocolate bunny prize. Events like this are so important, especially for those living with dementia. Enjoying familiar foods with strong flavours, nostalgic music and good company is both stimulating and comforting. It is, of course, just as valuable for those without dementia, to feel a strong sense of togetherness and ensure our home continues to feel like a family.

Thank you to everyone who supported this amazing event!

Alongside the cakes, we served plenty of tea, coffee and fizzy drinks (including sugar free options), so everyone could sit down and have a proper catch up and a well earned treat.

It was wonderful to see our community come together, as we hosted many residents from our neighbouring home, Bowerfield Court, who added greatly to the atmosphere around the bake sale table. Relatives also popped in and got involved, making the whole afternoon feel warm and full of life and community.

This National Puppy Day at Bowerfield House, we did some Arts and Crafts during our More...Creativity session πŸ–Œand reminisced about dogs we owned during our lives 🐾. Many of our residents owned dogs throughout their childhood and/or adult years, and had lovely stories to tell.

Taking the time to reminisce about these things really demonstrates just how much value a dog, or any pet, can add to your life🐢.

At Bowerfield House this St. Patrick's Day we celebrated with some lovely in-home activities. In the morning, we made an indulgent chocolate and Guinness cake with cream cheese icing at baking club, which we later enjoyed slices of. 🍰

For lunch we tucked in to a delicious traditional Irish stew with soda bread prepared by our wonderful chef Steve. πŸ‘¨β€πŸ³

In the afternoon we listened to Irish pub music 🎢and had a little jig and sing along - followed by some song requests of Irish musicians.

Both lounges were decorated to add to the celebratory mood and many people reminisced on their visits to Ireland, the celebrations of past St. Patrick's Days, and the origins of the Patron Saint. ☘

Approaching Mother's Day, we did some activities at Bowerfield House to get the home looking and feeling lovely and warm whilst we thought about not just our own mothers, but the mother's we know or mother's we are. πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘¦

We made some personalised and creative tissue paper flowers together 🌺, made and wrote cards and tucked in to some delicious afternoon tea. 🍰

Mother's day is a wonderful time to celebrate the love, tenderness and sacrifice of motherhood, and to express gratitude to all the mothers of the world.

We held a flower making arts and crafts session at Bowerfield House. Using colourful tape, felt tip pens, tissue paper and pipe cleaners we crafted flowers πŸŒΈπŸ’.

Arts and crafts are a great way to get creative and home in on our fine motor skills πŸ‘©β€πŸŽ¨. These group activities are valuable as they mean we can stay sociable and active to start the day!

We had a great time doing biscuit decorating with a range of different colourful sprinkles and runny icing sugar 🎊! Everyone involved chose their favourite sprinkles and decorated their biscuits, choosing between a classic digestive base or a crunchy ginger snap πŸ‘¨β€πŸ³.

The favourite option for topping was, of course, chocolate sprinkles.

Those living with us enjoyed a music hour where we played house favourites and all had a dance and a shake of various instruments including tambourines and maracas 🎢 These pictures show how much fun Pat and Barry were having, but almost everyone in the house got involved and had a great time - both upstairs and downstairs πŸ’½.

Everyone wanted to added their all-time favourite song to the queue and sang and danced alongπŸ•Ί. This activity will be sure to return frequently as it brought much joy and laughter to our home.
