As part of our community links, Rev. Lynn from St.Thomas's church in High Lane visits the home on the first Wednesday of every month to deliver a church service for those living with us.

As we approached the Easter season, the service included a demonstration of the Easter Cross, which in Catholic tradition symbolises the instrument of Jesus's death into a sign of victory, new life, and resurrection. The bare wood represents the passion and sacrifice on Good Friday, while the vibrant ribbons represent resurrection, joy, kingship, and the "flowering" of the cross! 🌼

We are delighted to share that we have recently purchased our very own "Interactive Table" from the Happi table company, an amazing tool which provides a non-invasive, engaging way to maintain cognitive, physical, and social health particularly effective for individuals with dementia or limited mobility, as they promote interaction and joy through sensory-rich technology.

For over a year the team at Bowerfield Court have worked very hard to raise funds to purchase this amazing table from joining competitions, to hosting fundraising events and even receiving donations from family members.

A big total of £3,500 was raised....Take a look at how some of those living with us have been enjoying spending time exploring a huge range of activities like watching live concerts, puzzles, wordsearch, and other games!

As part of our "Celebrating Cultures" programme this month, we held an event for Bengali New Year, celebrated by the Bengali people worldwide, and as a holiday in Bangladesh. To commemorate this special occasion those living with us visited the lounge for a morning of Arts and Crafts in which they took part making Alponas, a Bengali folk-art style consisting of coloured motifs, patterns, and symbols that are painted to decorate floors or walls on religious occasions.

For lunch, chef Sima, made a traditional meal consisting of a beef bhuna curry accompanied by rice, chips, vegetables, naan, and samosas as well as a chickpea curry for those who are vegetarian. As for dessert, a delightful rice pudding was served and everyone joined together to watch a virtual wheelchair travel to the city of Dhaka! 🇧🇩

Andy who lives with us at Bowerfield Court recently had a fantastic day visiting York with his sister Anne...both walked around the city centre to some of the most iconic sites, such as York dungeons and the shambles which is a famous, narrow medieval street featuring 14th century overhanging timber-framed buildings that once housed butchers shops.

The day ended with a fantastic train journey back to Stockport with a hot cappuccino! ☕️💙

As the Easter weekend came to an end we spent the day celebrating in the best of ways, a day filled with meaningful activities starting from a card making session at our weekly arts and crafts club, followed by an Easter competition which consisted of guessing how many sweets where in the Jar in which the winning number was 93 picked by John and a delicious lamb dinner made by our head chef Sarah.

In the afternoon Genesi and Rhiannon visited the rooms with sweet treats and cards; we would like to thank Jane’s mum who kindly knitted Easter chicks and filled them with cream eggs for those living with us! 🐣 💕

At Bowerfield Court, we love opening our doors to our amazing community, whether it's to join our quarterly events or spend quality time with those living with us.

Throughout the Easter period, Evie, who is day maker Jo's daughter, visited the home to support us building a Lego set consisting of 749 pcs in a record time of 2 and a half hours. Everyone had a delightful time watching her work on this beautiful piece, now displayed in our lounge.

Last week we celebrated "National Carrot Day" a crunchy day which brings awareness to the versatile vegetable known as the carrot, which also encourages people from around the world to share recipes, history, and fun facts too.

Those living with us visited the lounge for our weekly cooking club, and to mark the occasion, everyone took part in making some delicious carrot cake served with ice cream as it also went perfect with the Easter season.

This week at Bowerfield Cout we have celebrated "International Waffle Day" a popular day for enjoying sweet or savoury waffles whether for breakfast, brunch or dessert, the day is designed as a fun, often indulgent, celebration of the dish.

To mark this occasion, Lifestyle Assistant Tony created a waffle bar for those living with us at our weekly cooking club. Everyone had a delightful time enjoying a variety of healthy, delicious toppings such as strawberries, banana, berries, and fresh light cream!

As part of our Celebrating Cultures programme this month, we celebrated St. Patrick's Day ☘️ celebrated each year on 17th March, to commemorate the patron saint of Ireland. What was once a religious holiday has become an international celebration of Irish culture and history. To commemorate this special occasion, we hosted an Irish Party which started with an arts and crafts session painting some lucky rainbows, followed by a Guinness tasting, and an Irish virtual concert.

Everyone enjoyed getting into the festive spirit, wearing the patriotic colours, or items such as glasses, hats, and headbands. Also, those cared for in bed had the opportunity to take part in a virtual travel to Ireland provided by the More...Portal. Thank you to our wonderful care and hospitality team members for always supporting the lifestyle events!
