This week as we celebrated "World Book Day" lifestyle assistant Tony and hospitality team member Marie hosted an Arts & Crafts club for those living with us, everyone took part in creating their own bookmarks recycling old paper cards and stickers.

In the afternoon Tony visited those cared for in bed with a More...Creativity mobile library, in which people had the chance of swapping books and reminiscing over their favourite authors. 📚🖊️

We have had our second Myley Trip of 2026, this time to Manchester's Imperial War Museum 😁 one of the five branches of the imperial war museum, it explores the impact of modern conflicts on people and society. This museum is also known for being a global leader in developing and communicating a deeper understanding of the causes, course, and consequences of war.

Charles, Paul, Mary, and Janet visited this wonderful historic place and started the day by exploring the main exhibition space, followed by the art display and ending with the big picture show.

All then went to the coffee room and enjoyed a light lunch of sandwiches, beverages, and snacks. We would like to thank Myley's driver, Mark, for keeping everyone safe and entertained throughout the journey as well as hospitality team member, Steph, and head housekeeper, Mary, for coming in on their day off to support our lifestyle lead in this big trip!

Every month at Bowerfield Court we hold a bowling tournament which encourages everyone to gather together in a competitive, friendly atmosphere as bowling is a vital activity for people because it offers a rare combination of low-impact physical exercise, essential social interaction, and cognitive stimulation, helping to combat both physical decline and isolation.

It was John and Mary's first-time taking part and both expressed how amazing it was to participate; Brian was the winner of the day scoring a total of 486 points!

Over the Christmas period, MMCG hosted a Christmas Party around the homes and included a raffle for those living with us to take part in. The winning person would have the opportunity to enjoy a trip out or a meal with a family member. Andy was our lucky winner, and this is how he decided to make it a memorable experience...

Andy chose to visit the "National football museum" located in Manchester City Centre, Lifestyle team members Genesi & Tony accompanied him on this very fun day, which started with a visit to the pitch gallery located on the first floor (exhibitions/hall of fame), on level 2 was about the history and rare items at the match gallery, and ended the tour at the score gallery used for revolving special exhibitions.

This was not only a day out but a trip down memory lane. Andy who lives with dementia is also a Man City fan and grew up visiting Stockport County's ground, as well as attending multiple matches at the Etihad. After such an exciting time, we went to Nando's for a delicious meal at the Printworks.

As part of our Celebrating Cultures programme this month, we have hosted a Chinese day for Chinese New Year, also known as the spring festival, which marks the beginning of a new year on the traditional lunisolar Chinese calendar. To mark this occasion, those living with us had a day filled with authentic activities starting with a wheelchair travel around China and an arts & crafts session, and as it is the year of the horse, we painted horses which we then displayed in the lounge.

For lunch all joined the dining room for a traditional dinner which consisted of BBQ chicken, beef in black bean sauce, vegetables stir fried noodles, boiled rice, spring rolls, and sweet & sour chicken, there were also prawn crackers and fortune cookies. Our communal areas were decorated with vibrant decorations, banners and Chinese music played throughout the day.

Happy Chinese New Year 🧧

We celebrated Valentine's Day "The day of love & friendship"! The event started with a live concert performed by Debbie, who sang some of the most beautiful romantic songs from the 60's and 70's, everyone had a delightful time singing along and dancing away.

For Lunch, we had a special Cupids Menu created by Head Chef, Sarah, which consisted of marry me chicken accompanied by sweet potato fries and steamed stem broccoli as a main, and rising love chocolate cake for dessert. For tea, we all enjoyed heart delight cheese toasties with homemade tomato soup and a slice of cheeky cheesecake.

To end the party, we spent the afternoon watching romantic films and then drew our Valentine's Raffle, with the winners being Jo, Mary, and Claire from Bowerfield House!
