Mrs List is officially out of office for a week 🤍

12/03/2026

Most of us grew up being told what we can’t do with food.

Don’t eat that.
That’s bad for you.
You shouldn’t have that.
You’ve had enough.

For years, food rules were louder than our own bodies.
So when people ask what makes me different as a coach, the answer is actually very simple.

I’m not here to give you more rules.

I’m here to give you permission.

Permission to eat the foods you’ve been told are “off limits.”
Permission to enjoy meals without guilt.
Permission to trust that your body can handle more than you’ve been led to believe.

Because food freedom isn’t about ignoring nutrition.
It’s about understanding it.

When you have the education and the knowledge about what food actually does for your body, you realise something powerful:

No single food has the power to make or break your health.

Food stops being something you need to control…
and starts becoming something that supports you.

You don’t need more restriction.

You need freedom — with understanding 🤍

The weirdest part of getting engaged?
Everyone suddenly thinks they’re entitled to comment on what you eat 🤷🏼‍♀️

Apparently when you’re getting married you’re also supposed to stop enjoying food…🙃

In the lead up to my wedding I’ve heard things like:

“You can’t eat cake”
“You can’t go out for meals”
“You have to be really strict to fit into your dress”

And it made me realise how much we’ve been brought up believing that if we want to feel confident in our bodies, we have to miss out on life 💔

But that’s just not true ❌

You can eat the dessert
You can go out for meals
You can enjoy the process

Because when you have the right knowledge, you don’t need to punish yourself to get results!

Balance > restriction. EVERY time.

And I’m here to prove it to you 🤍

These are all versions of me.

Young and figuring things out.
Skinny and starving myself.
Pregnant and growing a human.
Postnatal and completely lost.
Brave and trying again.
Bold enough to start building a life that felt like mine.

And now — engaged, independent and happy.

For a long time I looked back at some of these versions of myself with shame.

But the truth is… every version of me got me here.

Every mistake.
Every hard season.
Every moment of doubt.
Every step of growth.

They all shaped the woman I am today.

So today, on International Women’s Day, I’m not just celebrating who I am now.

I’m celebrating every version of me that kept going 🤍

The strong ones.
The struggling ones.
The messy ones.
The brave ones.

Because we don’t become the women we are despite those chapters.

We become them because of them.

Here’s to every version of you too ✨

If you’ve spent YEARS trying to “hit your numbers” perfectly… this might surprise you!

For many of us who have dieted for years, calories feel precise

If the label says 200kcals, we believe we absorbed 200kcals.
If we track 1,800kcals, we assume our body used exactly that!

But human digestion doesn’t work like a calculator 🧮

Research shows that the body doesn’t extract 100% of the calories listed on food labels. The physical structure of food matters. For example, who nuts often provide fewer absorbed calories than their labels suggest because some fat remains trapped inside intact cell walls during digestion 🥜

Cooking, blending, grinding, and fibre content all influence how much energy your body can actually access!

That means:

Two meal with identical calories on paper
Can results in different amounts of usable energy ⚖️

Not because you do something wrong ❌
Not because your metabolism is broken ❌

But because biology is DYNAMIC 🧠

This isn’t a reason to avoid certain foods
And it’s not a reason to fear processed foods either!

It’s simply a reminder that the “precision” dieting promises has always been more approximate than exact

Your body has never been a spreadsheet 📊

And it was NEVER meant to be managed like one!

If this shifts how you see calorie counting, save it for later 🤍

Most of the women I work with are 30+

They’ve done slimming world ✅
Weight watchers ✅
Low carb✅
Clean eating ✅
“MyFitnessPal days”✅
Starting over EVERY Monday since 2004✅

And yet the thing that brings them the most shame?

Not their weight.❌
Not their body.❌

But the fact that they can’t seem to “just eat normally”

They watch other women split desserts,
Leave food on their plate,
Forget about chocolate in the cupboard…

And they think:
“What is wrong with me?!”

NOTHING.

When you’ve spent decades restricting, tracking, labelling food good and bad - your brain doesn’t seem Nutella as Nutella

It sees scarcity
It sees rules
It sees one last chance before Monday

Of course it feels intense!

Food isn’t difficult because you lack willpower.
It feels difficult because you’ve been at WAR with it for years!

So I’ll ask you the same question as the post…

If ONE thing could feel easy with food… what would it be?

I’m reading every comment 🤍

28/02/2026

“I’ve been eating so badly. I need to do something about this.”

If you’ve ever had that thought, I want you to know something important.

Your brain may hear that as a warning.
A signal that restriction is coming.

And when the brain senses restriction — even just the threat of it — it often increases the desire for food.

Not because you lack discipline.
Not because you’re greedy.
Not because you’re broken.

But because your brain is wired to protect you!

During Eating Disorder Awareness Week, this feels important to say:

The binge–restrict cycle isn’t a failure of willpower.
It’s a biological response to perceived scarcity.

The more we threaten to take food away,
the louder the drive for it becomes.

Restriction fuels the cycle.
Compassion and consistency begin to calm it.

If you’ve been stuck in this pattern, you’re not weak.
Your body is trying to keep you safe.

And there is another way 🤍

If this resonates, please know you’re not alone.

Healing isn’t loud.

It doesn’t look like perfect body confidence or never thinking about food again

Sometimes it looks like:

🤍pausing instead of panicking

🤍eating the cookie and not spiraling

🤍choosing breakfast even when you’re “not hungry”

If you see yourself in any of these - you ARE making progress ❤️

23/02/2026

On average, women spend 6-10 YEARS of their lives dieting 💔
That’s years of restriction, too rules, and waiting to feel “ready”

This weekend was my hen party 🤍
And I am NOT dieting for my wedding

For so long, weddings have been framed as a deadline for “shrinking”

But here’s what the research shows:
Chronic dieting is associated with increased food preoccupation, body dissatisfaction, and weight cycling - not long term wellbeing!

I’ve already given years of my life to dieting

I don’t want to give it my engagement.
I don’t want to give it these last 26 days.
And I definitely don’t want to give it moments like this!

This video?
This is wha food freedom gives you 🤍

Presence.
Connection.
Joy that isn’t interrupted by thoughts about your body.

You deserve to experience your milestones FULLY - not through the lens of “how do I look?”

If you’re feeling wedding (or event) pressure to diet, this is your permission to OPT OUT 🤍

At first glance, this looks like a “healthy” snack 🍓

Strawberries on the front.
“Low calorie.”
Light, bright packaging.

But when we flip it over and actually look…

The calories per pack.
The ingredient list.
The traffic light system.

It tells a slightly different story.

This isn’t about saying this yoghurt bar is “bad.”

It’s about recognising how powerful marketing is.
Food packaging is designed to sell.

Strawberries on the front don’t automatically mean high fruit content.
“Low calorie” doesn’t automatically mean nourishing.

Health isn’t a font choice or a pastel colour scheme.

It’s about understanding what you’re buying — not being swayed by the front of the box.

You deserve to feel confident reading labels.
Not confused.
Not manipulated.

Next time you’re shopping, take 10 extra seconds to turn the pack around 👀

Marketing is loud.
Information is quiet.
Learn to read the quiet part 🤍

This is what I ate this week 🍽️

Breakfasts, lunches, dinners, snacks.
Some quick oven meals 🧊➡️🔥
Some more nutrient-dense plates 🥗
Some chocolate 🍫
Some donuts 🍩
Some fruit 🍊🍌

Some repeats.

Nothing fancy.

Nothing perfectly curated.

Nothing “clean.”

And that’s the point 🤍

Nutrition doesn’t have to be:
– complicated
– all fresh, organic ingredients
– different every single day
– aesthetic
– perfectly balanced at every meal

It can look like freezer food on a busy night.
It can look like the same breakfast three times because it’s easy.
It can look like a donut alongside your usual lunch.
It can look like oranges and bananas because that’s what was in the bowl.

Health isn’t built on one meal.
It’s shaped over time 🫶

Variety across the week matters more than perfection on a plate.

You don’t need to overhaul your life to eat well.
You just need meals that work for you 🤍

If this feels like permission to relax a little around food, save this for later ✨

And tell me in the comments — what’s your most repeated meal at the moment? 👇
