On No Smoking Day, Wednesday 11th March 2026, it’s worth remembering that habits are often just loops the mind has learned. A gentle tool you can try is to focus on a new, restorative rhythm to replace the old one - such as 4-7-8 - Breathe in for four, hold for 7 and breathe out for 8.

If you have a habit you would like to change and would like some help, book a free, no obligation chat today https://www.graciousmountain.co.uk

Breaking a habit isn't about willpower; it’s about strategy. Many people find that 'stopping' a habit leaves a vacuum that the brain wants to fill.

Try this: Instead of just stopping, 'swap' the physical action. If you always reach for a snack when stressed, reach for a glass of water or a 30-second stretch instead. You are training the brain to find a new path. In my practice, I use Hypnotherapy, BWRT and EFT to make these swaps feel natural rather than a struggle.

Finding your balance this March

As we reach the Spring Equinox, many people find it is a natural time to pause and reflect. Just as we might plant seeds in a garden, we can also look at where we want to nurture new growth in our own lives—whether that is finding more calm, building confidence, or navigating a period of change.

In my March newsletter, I’m sharing some gentle tools to help you find your path through these shifting terrains. If you’ve been feeling the pull toward a fresh start, you are not alone.

In this month's edition, we explore:

Practical ways to manage stress during life's transitions.

Simple steps to help you feel more grounded.

Resources to support your journey toward a calmer path.

A gentle next step you can try:

Many people find that their inner critic can be quite loud, making it difficult to feel truly confident in their own skin. If you’ve been feeling a little unsure of yourself lately, please know that self-esteem is something we can nurture and grow with the right tools.

Building self-esteem isn’t about being perfect; it’s about finding a calmer, more compassionate way to be yourself.

Why "Self-Love" Feels So Hard (And How to Actually Do It)

With Valentine’s Day around the corner, we are bombarded with images of external romance. But as a therapist, I know that the most important relationship you will ever have is the one happening inside your own mind.

If your Confidence and Self-Esteem rely on someone else’s approval, you are standing on shaky ground. In Parts Therapy, we look at the different "characters" inside us:

• The Needy Part: Who fears rejection and seeks constant reassurance.
• The Critical Part: Who tells you that you aren't attractive or successful enough.
• The Core Self: The calm, capable "you" that often gets buried under the noise.

Real self-esteem isn't about being perfect; it’s about the "Core Self" learning to lead the other parts with compassion. When you stop being at war with your internal critics, your external relationships naturally become healthier and more balanced.

Try this today: Instead of looking for a compliment from someone else, find one thing you genuinely respect about your own resilience this week.

Is it "January Blues" or is it your Hormones?

As we reach the end of the first month of 2026, many women are struggling with a deep sense of fatigue and a "fuzzy" brain. While the world blames the cold weather and the dark mornings, for those of us in perimenopause or menopause, there is often a deeper chemical story at play.

Declining estrogen levels don't just affect our physical bodies; they directly impact our Stress and Anxiety levels and our cognitive "sharpness." This can lead to:

• The "Where are my keys?" Brain Fog: Feeling like your mental processor is lagging.
• Low Mood Spikes: Sudden drops in motivation that feel like they’ve come from nowhere.
• Sleep Disruption: Which, in turn, makes managing daily stress almost impossible.

In my practice at Gracious Mountain Therapies, I use a combination of Psychotherapy and Hypnotherapy to help you manage these "invisible" symptoms. It’s not just "in your head"—but the solution often starts with how we train the brain to cope with the transition.

🌷Today’s Tip: If the fog feels heavy, simplify. Choose one task, do it slowly, and give yourself permission to be "imperfectly transitioning."
