Sparkling love on Valentine’s Day!🥂💜

We hosted a special Valentine’s afternoon tea yesterday to celebrate the generational, romantic love and new and old friendships here at Oaklands. It was so lovely to see so much love and warmth and it was joy and honour to hold a space for residents and their loved ones this Valentine’s Day. 💕

Celebrating with heart shaped scones, a variety of cakes and finger sandwiches, tea coffee, prosecco, music and good company. 🌹

“3 cheers to the tipple trolley!” - says Rosemary 🍸🙂

Our tipple trolley went down a treat again today, and everyone enjoyed sipping on their mojitos, gins, wines and more!

The tipple trolley does its rounds each Friday afternoon, going round both lounges and into residents rooms, making sure all residents are seen and offered drinks and snacks. 🧀🥂

Handmade with love this valentines season💜

We’ve been getting ready for Valentine’s Day tomorrow with lots of arts and crafts!

Residents have enjoyed getting stuck in to lots of crafting activities, including making handmade cards, heartwarming wall hangings and decorating a valentines post box! All staff relatives and residents are invited to pop a card in the box, to pass on their love, thanks and well wishes 🙂 perfect for sharing joy, strengthening connections and celebrating friendship! 💕🌹

What a fantastic day celebrating the Year Of Culture! 🎶🌍

Authentic food cooked by our amazing staff, lively music, and lots of smiles. We are proud to celebrate the diversity of the community here at Oaklands. 💜

Included in the food cooked were… Kiribath - Sri Lankan milk rice, egg curry, Welsh Rarebit, creamed leeks and pani kaju - a sweet peanut brittle treat 😋✨

Tea, treats and treasured company💜

We had a lovely time at our Community Afternoon Tea on Friday, enjoying cakes, scones and warm beverages together. It was really lovely catching up with friends of the home who popped in and residents enjoyed a relaxed afternoon 🙂

Animal joy with Wild Encounters Events Ltd😁🦜

What a wonderful experience we had meeting all these amazing animals! From the small but mighty hissing cockroach to a guinea pig, parrot and a skunk! 🦨🐹

We have lots of animal lovers here at Oaklands, including Wendy who recalls stories spent with different creatures such as her little robin friend who used to sit and eat from her hand, and Sheila who says she thinks all creatures are special however big or small!

A massive thanks to Kate for facilitating this session and teaching us about each animal. She took her time to engage each resident and made the afternoon fun and informative for all. 🙂

Creating treasures from the sea and earth 🐚🪨

This weeks workshop was making clay impressions and sculptures. The tactile nature of the clay is both therapeutic and grounding and creates a sensory experience when working with it. 🙂
