Sudden downpour: Boules is out… mini golf is in! ⛳️

We set up a game of boules in the sunshine only to find ourselves in the middle of a storm! So we resorted to playing a fun game of mini golf inside instead! Residents and staff enjoyed having a go and some friendly competition 😁🏌️

Gathering for sweet treats and sweet connections ☕️💜

We had a lovely Community Aftermoon Tea on Friday, enjoying each others company and a delicious spread of scones and cakes. The afternoon passed by quickly as we sipped on tea and chatted. We were very happy to see some good friends of the home come and say hello, We’re looking forward to the next one and welcome anyone from the community to come and enjoy the afternoon with us! 🤗🍰

Nurturing plants ~ and ourselves 🌷🌿

In Sensory Gardening this week, residents have enjoyed potting up a variety of lovely flowers, including, Pansies, Violas and Dianthus. 🌼

As a lot of our residents are keen gardeners, they love to get their hands stuck in to the dirt and get creative! 🪻🎨

Tiny feet making big impressions 🤗👼

What a lovely morning! We had three bonnie babies say hello to our residents at our Friend in Deed little visitor session this morning. It was wonderful to see the residents full of joy chatting and interacting with these little ones. We hope to see you all again soon! And if anyone else has a little one and wants to come and visit we would love to meet you, our next little visitor session is next Tuesday the 2nd 10:30am 🙂💜

What’s your favourite song from the past?? 🤔We had a blast revisiting old tunes at our music memories jam! 🎶🎸🕺

The residents had fun experimenting with percussion and we all had a sing song and a good dance to our favourite songs! One of our lovely residents John also brought out his guitar and played some Beatles for us which was very special and a real treat! 🤗🎵

We’re very much looking forward to welcoming the Black Dog Music Project to the next session! 🐕‍🦺

High tides and good vibes here at Oaklands for our residents beach day party! 🏖️👙

It was wonderful to bring the magic of the beach to the residents, with sand, paddling pools, ice cream, lots of laughter and a sprinkling of sunshine! - typical British beach day weather! 😆🍦🌊

Lots of residents as well as friends and family of the home have been making the most of our boules court this summer! 🌞 Even our Friend in Deed little friend Eleri agrees the boules are a lot of fun! 🤗💜

Nurturing connections and sharing memories in our memory circle! 💜🤗

We had a lovely afternoon on Friday at our friends and family Memory Circle. This is a great way to foster connections and share the experience of reminiscing. It is so valuable to engage with the past, as it stimulates the mind and strengthens social bonds.

We enjoyed some delicious cakes and drank lots of cups of tea! ☕️😋 It was particularly lovely to look back at all the wonderful wedding pictures, seeing all the different styles of wedding dresses and suits through the years.. and some amazing hairstyles!

Lights, camera, nostalgia! 📽️✨

The residents always enjoy Phil’s Nostalgia Film shows! There is always a great variety of films, from music, documentary, musical extracts, comedy, wildlife, old cartoons and more, It really takes the residents back to years gone by and unlocks special memories. Yesterday we watched an extract from Disneys 1939 film The Ugly Duckling, a promotional piece for The Sound of Music and lots of others.

We even had a half time ice-cream break, which was much appreciated on such a hot day! 🍦😋

A taste of summer at Oaklands! 🍇🌿

Our blackberries and grapes are ripe and ready in the garden for all to harvest! We welcome friends and family to come pick these sweet treats with their loved ones.

The fruits have particularly flourished this year and we would hate for them to go to waste! Our chefs are regularly using the berries and grapes for snacks and puddings, however there’s still an abundance ready and waiting to be picked! 🫐😋

Taking a trip down the rabbit hole with our residents for our Mad Hatter’s Tea Party! ☕️🍰🎩

As it was International book lovers day on Saturday we thought we would celebrate by having our own Mad Hatter’s Tea Party. ✨ We ate lots of yummy cake and treats, sipped lots of tea, listened to old tunes and chatted about our favourite books, this was a wonderful and whimsical afternoon! 🐇🕰️📚
