If you're busy stocking up on treatment supplies ready for September, don't forget that using a spatula to dispense your waxes and balms is an important part of keeping your wax in good condition (in addition to clean hands, of course). ⠀

Using a spatula reduces the risk of the wax becoming contaminated with any dirt and germs from the hands. This will help to keep your waxes and balms in tip-top condition for longer. We recommend scooping the amount of wax you need into a small bowl or onto the back of your hand, and then putting the lid back on the tub before you begin the treatment. ⠀

More of our old IBC containers have found a new home at a local Community Supported Agriculture scheme here in Somerset. Off-Grid Organics in Sparkford grows wonderful organic produce through small-scale ecological farming methods. They are using our old IBC’s for their off-grid water harvesting systems, which serve their market garden and in turn will help to provide organic food for the local community. The containers are getting a fresh coat of black paint to inhibit the growth of algae.

We love to see these containers get a new lease of life to support a good cause. If you’re local to us here in Somerset and you think you could make good use of our old IBCs for your allotment or local growing project, get in touch!

Concerned about stained towels during your massage treatments?

Our Massage & Reflexology Waxes are specially designed to prevent drips and spills from occurring during treatments, meaning that towel staining is less likely to occur. However, we recognise that oil stains on towels can sometimes go hand-in-hand with massage treatments.

So, we’ve been experimenting with different washing conditions to determine how best to remove (and prevent) oil stains on towels.

THE EXPERIEMENT:
We smeared some of our waxes onto towels and tried different washing methods.
We experimented with different types of detergents and stain removers (including oxygen bleaches, alkaline cleaners and household degreasers), plus varying water temperatures (from 30°C - 60°C), to find the best balance between effective stain removal and eco-friendly washing practices.

THE WINNING RESULTS:

For an everyday towel wash where stains aren’t too heavy:
- Choose a 40°C - 60°C wash
- Use a combination of Non-Bio laundry detergent and a squeeze of washing up liquid (e.g. Fairy Liquid or similar)

For a heavy-duty towel wash with more noticeable stains:
- Choose a 60°C wash
- Use a Bio detergent & 2–3 Tbsp Soda Crystals

EXTRA TIPS:
- For heavy stains, pre-soak the towels in some oxygen bleach (like Vanish Oxi Action).
- Towels with a lower thread count accumulate less oil, meaning less staining.
- Prevention is better than cure! We smeared the product directly onto towels to replicate a worst case scenario, but we recommend never using a towel to wipe off excess product. Instead, use paper towel to wipe your hands. If you must use a towel, use a dark coloured towel to help mask staining.

(A note on the cleaning products we used for this experiment: we deliberately chose popular commercial cleaners that are easy to obtain in UK supermarkets, but we encourage you to use whichever cleaning products fit with your budget and environmental ethos.)

Our Aloe Vera Lip Balm is the simplest of all of our lip balms. To a base of Shea Butter, Beeswax, Olive Oil and Vitamin E, we add soothing Aloe Vera extract and nourishing Coconut Oil to create a lip balm that’s gentle but highly effective. It’s free from essential oils, so it’s ideal for people who prefer not to have a scent or flavour to their lip balms.

Aloe Vera and Coconut Oil are a perfect match when it comes to moisturising the skin. Here’s how they work together:
🌵 Aloe Vera is a humectant – attracting and retaining water in the outer skin layer.
🥥 Coconut Oil is an occlusive – helping to seal in that water by reducing evaporation.
Essentially, Aloe Vera helps your skin soak up and hold onto moisture, while Coconut Oil creates a light barrier to lock in that hydration and prevent the moisture from escaping. A great team for soft, healthy, moisturised skin.

The beautiful English-grown lavender that we use in our single-blend lavender product range has been harvested and is now in its distillation process. This first harvest and premium extraction gives the oil its deep, subtle and rounded floral qualities, and the perfect aroma to instill a sense of calm and relaxation.

We’ll be getting our new stock of this lavender’s essential oil in October, ready to blend into our popular Lavender Massage Wax, Reflexology Wax and Liquiwax.

The beginnings of new building works at our headquarters here on the farm.

Over the next couple of months, our offices will be going through some exciting redevelopment as we expand our humble work abode. We’ve got numerous renovations in the pipeline, but this is the first one kicking things off... a new, dedicated boot room for our shoes!

A boot room may sound like a funny thing for a smaller independent business to have, but it actually serves an important purpose for us. Did you know: the whole of our indoor offices is a shoe-free zone, to ensure our products stay perfectly sanitised. So if you ever see us in our office, you’ll notice us walking around in funky socks or colourful indoor Crocs!

Our new and improved Liquiwax bottles have been in circulation since the beginning of the year and we hope you’re enjoying them!

If you’re coming to the end of your bottle, don’t forget you can purchase a refill bottle instead of another pump-topped bottle. Our pump tops are specially designed to be reusable, to help reduce plastic waste. You’ll notice they’re cleverly colour-coded to match the scent, allowing you to keep and reuse your pump top many times. It’s also cheaper to purchase a refill bottle, compared to a full bottle with a pump top.

To purchase a refill bottle, just select the ‘Refill without Pump’ option when ordering your Liquiwax. It will come with a flat lid that can be removed and easily replaced with your existing pump top.
