We’ve just had two articles published in the latest edition of the national magazine “Farewells”!

The first article is in the body of the magazine starting on page 32, with the second piece posted on the “Farewell” website blog page.

When Jayne from Farewells came to visit us in November 2022, we took great pleasure in taking her through the process we go through with all our clients and showed her first-hand, the talent and creativity we have within our own four walls. It is with very great sadness that we learn of the death of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth.

Did you know that the team combined has over 250 years of experience as stonemasons? It is not unheard of to send a photograph of an old memorial to the workshop, for the team to not only recognise the font but also how it was done and on some occasions the name of the stonemason who did the work. 🙂

The traditional monumental masonry training our team has often comes in handy when we need to add an additional inscription to a memorial. Having the skills to hand cut the lettering is especially useful where the original inscription is decades old, and the techniques and fonts used were different from those commonly used today.

We have been sorting through the old files and orders at the branch and we have realised that this year is our 30th Anniversary since we took over Tyas & Tyas, I think that is something to celebrate.

We also love the traditional style of this popular choice of ornamentation, which has evolved over the years.

This beautiful hand-carved stone memorial perfectly demonstrates the importance of keeping our heritage skills alive. The carving has been expertly undertaken by one of our in-house stonemasons.

After years of visiting Churchyards all over the UK, Adrian picked out some of his favourite shapes and designs and used them for inspiration for our Signature Stone Collection. It's always such a privilege to be able to work with our clients on these memorials and to hand carve these beautiful stones. It gives us a chance to leave our small mark on these unique spaces for future generations to appreciate like we do with stone masons of the past.

It is easy to say - "oh just put it there" but in truth, it is a massive undertaking installing display memorials and these are the easy ones AND on the hottest day of the century!!! well done team!

We've started getting memorials into the new flagship showroom at The Masons Yard at long last,...had to record the momentous moment Neil and Charles put the first of our Signature Collection showroom pieces in...only 2 years in the planning 😅🙏🙏🙏

Gold leaf can make such a difference to a design, it's always so impressive to see the gold leaf going on, I often think how lucky we are to live in times where we have access to these beautiful materials... ❤

A huge welcome to Andrew who's joined our expanding fitting team and Libby our new apprentice, who's had a whirlwind couple of weeks getting to see and learn about all the different areas of the business. It's been a real pleasure seeing how you've both thrown yourselves so positively into the challenges of learning new skills.🙏😃

There is so much talent at The Mason's Yard...😍 we love the mix of traditional and modern techniques along with a great eye for design.

Something a bit different... An idea for a personalised house plaque - with farming theme - designed, carved and hand lettered, with a little sandblasted cow detail, all done by Paul for the Great Yorkshire Show where we were supporting Full Circle Funerals today. By all accounts it was crazily busy and fully sold out for this year...and a little bit hot 🥵
