The Lakeside Practice

The Lakeside Practice We are a local GP practice in the heart of Askern, Doncaster. Here at The Lakeside Practice, we care for a community of over 9100 patients.

We are a practice of five GP partners and two salaried GPs, assisted by an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, three Practice Nurses, two Health Care Assistants and a Phlebotomist. In practice we also have Physiotherapists, a Dietician, a mental Health Practitioner and a number of clinical Pharmacists. In addition, we currently have four GP Registrars working with us. From time to time we employ locums to cover staff absences. The team is supported by a dedicated Reception and Admin team who are able to help you find the most appropriate appointment and sort out any administrative issues you may have such as sick notes or checking on hospital referral. The surgery has full disabled access and facilities.

Despite best efforts to restore power to the building, we regret to inform you that for the safety of our staff and patients, we have no choice but to close the practice for the remainder of today. Our emergency lighting will shortly run out, and we currently have no access to our clinical systems or phone lines.

Unfortunately, this issue is completely outside of our control, and we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this may cause.

If you feel you need medical assistance today, please contact NHS 111 or the Same Day Health Centre on 0300 123 3103.

We will contact all patients whose appointments were affected as soon as possible to rearrange. We anticipate this will be tomorrow.

Thank you for your understanding.

Unfortunately the White Wings Centre is still without power. Our latest ETA is now between 15:30 and 16:30.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your patience.

18/02/2026

Due to a power cut in the area, the practice is currently without electricity. As a result, we have no access to patient records and our telephone lines are not working.

We understand that Northern Powergrid are working to resolve the issue. Their current estimated time of restoration is between 13:15 and 14:15.

Please be aware that if you attend the practice during this time, we may not be able to assist you.

We will provide further updates as soon as more information becomes available.

Children's Mental Health Week, 9th-13th February 2026

Children’s Mental Health Week is a reminder that every child deserves to feel safe, heard, and supported 💛

Let’s take time to listen, encourage open conversations, and remind young people that their feelings matter. Small moments of kindness and understanding can make a big difference in a child’s world.

The HPV vaccines are now being rolled out across our local schools. If your child is in Year 8, it’s time to keep an eye out for those consent forms. This isn't just about one virus—it’s about protecting our young people from a range of cancers later in life💉

Missed the school session or home educated? Call the team on 03000 211 840 to check eligibility and arrange a catch-up appointment.
