ERIC HELPLINE
You can call FREEPHONE on 0808 801 0343 Monday - Thursday, 10am - 1pm.
Here's what some families had to say about the support they received from our helpline in their time of need:

🔴 Your helpline advisor was the first person I’ve spoken to that understood and could empathise with my daughter’s toileting fears. The advice was fantastic, but just to talk was a weight off - Rachel, parent
🔴 Thank you for the advice ERIC gave us in helping with our daughter’s bowel issues. The advice was invaluable and gave us the direction and tools we needed to resolve it.
🔴 I can’t overstate how much the helpline helped us at a stressful time - Alex
🔴 The helpline staff are the only people we can talk to while our son is ill. They are worth their weight in gold. - Neil
🔴 That one phone call meant so much thank you!

SHARED FROM ERIC FACEBOOK

If your child has been constipated for more than a few days, a doctor or nurse may advise you to do a disimpaction. The summer holidays can be a good time to do it if you and your child are having time off school and work. A disimpaction will clear any constipation, so they can start the new school year with a healthier, happier bowel!

We have lots of resources on our website to help and support you, including A parent's guide to disimpaction - https://eric.org.uk/childr.../parents-guide-to-disimpaction/

Please make sure you get advice from your healthcare professional.

Do you have a child with additional needs?

Potty training children with additional needs may take a little longer and more support, but we reassure you that the process you need to follow is the same.

Why not start with our Let’s Go Potty approach? This has been developed to suit children of all abilities and includes:
🧻Step 1: Preparation
🧻Step 2: Practice
🧻Step 3: Stopping using nappies

If you’d like more information on each step, head to https://eric.org.uk/children-additional-needs/ to access our potty training advice for children with additional needs.

The LUCY Project - a Sheffield Children's service which is all about listening, understanding and caring for you – is now available in nine hospitals across the country 💛
Following its success at Sheffield Children's to young people across South Yorkshire (Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley and Doncaster Hospitals), the LUCY Project has received funding from Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity through Bright Young Dreams, a campaign delivered on the charity’s behalf to improve mental health care and services.
The LUCY Project is now available for families also visiting Airedale Hospital, Great North Children’s Hospital (GNCH) and the Freeman Hospital, Jersey Hospital, and Alder Hey.
You can access support from The LUCY Project if you are under 18 years old and feel worried, anxious or have low mood about a physical health condition that you are seeing a specialist doctor about.
If eligible, you can access between six and eight sessions via phone or video call, each lasting 45 minutes. These sessions are a safe space to talk about difficulties, explore feelings, and find ways to feel better by setting personal goals and making a plan to reach them.
For information about how to self-refer, whether you might be eligible for this support, and more, please visit the Sheffield Children’s website.

Consultation on the 2026/2027 Transport Policy
*If you access transport for your child, please see below a consultation for parents/carers to proposed changes to the current system*
Doncaster Council are seeking parents/carers view on a proposal to introduce Personal Travel Budgets (PTBs) for eligible learners from September 2026, replacing council arranged transport such as taxis or minibuses.
From September 2026, eligible young people with SEND in post‑16 education and training would receive a Personal Travel Budget instead of council arranged transport. Adult learners aged 19–25 who qualify for travel assistance would also be able to receive a PTB.

This Consultation will run from 19th January 2026 to 28th February 2026.

Happy Pancake Day! Today can be great fun for all the family but please keep safety in mind.

• Keep pans out of reach of little hands by turning pan handles away from the edge of the counter and using the back rings of the hob
• Don’t leave your cooking unattended
• Keep small children away from the cooking area
• In the event of a burn injury, remember COOL, CALL, COVER. COOL the burn for 20 minutes under cool (not cold) running water. CALL for help. COVER the burn loosely with cling film.
